Puppy Brother

It's Friday which makes me HAP-HAP-HAPPY! Know what else makes me happy? Oh, lots of things actually. But as of late, here's some things that I'm especially loving.

+ The Giveaway that I'm co-hosting next week. Be sure to come back to my blog next week to see the deets! You won't want to miss it, I promise you that!

+ The Happiness Project. I ordered this book yesterday morning since Kristen suggested it. I can't wait until it gets in!
+ Pinterest project. So I've slacking; it's true. But I am excited to get some major Pinterest projects done this weekend. I am dreaming of red, white, and blue schtuff.

+ This commercial. KID YOU NOT, I crack up every time I see it. These AT&T commercials are genius. I have Sprint and it almost makes me want to switch to AT&T. Their Marketing department deserves major kudos.

Last, and certainly the funniest...

+ This ecard. I am laughing as I'm writing this. If you don't get it, you should push "play" on the song under the photo.

Iron Man Shot

Truth be told, the first thing I do in the mornings is turn on my I Heart Radio app on my phone and listen to Bobby, Amy, and Lunchbox in the morning. The Bobby Bones Show is a morning radio show. They talk about anything and everything. I may have a secret girl crush on Amy. She is the sweetest ever!
Did you know they originated in good ole Austin, TX? Yep, it's true. Recently, they made the switch to country music (my favie) and are now located in Nashville. I like to think that in another life I was a country star, living in Nashville. Shoutout to my homegirl, Jordon, who is a Nashville resident.

Anyyywayyys, they totally make my morning and I figured not only would I tell you about them, but also I thought I'd share a clip from the show.

Get ready to witness the Iron Man Shot.
Who wants to try that?! Not me. Ain't happenin'. No siree bob.

All of that Iron Man-ness is beside the point; the moral of the story is that their morning show is awesome and you should totally listen to them.

Weekend Update on a Wednesday

I vote three day weekends for every.single.weekend. Don't you agree?! Oh it was so supreme.

Saturday, we went with our neighbors to see The Hangover III. And OH MY GOSH, I laughed soooo hard. Seriously, I hadn't laughed that hard in a really long time.
I had two favorite scenes: 1) When Alan was singing at his dad's funeral. FREAKING hilarious. And 2) When Alan went up to Black Doug in his car and said, "Wassup ***BLEEP***" Hahaha. I definitely advise y'all all to go see that movie ASAP. To top it off, a man came to the movie showing dressed up as Alan, with a fake Carlos baby and all.

Sunday was spent being lazy... which is my favorite thing to do. I sound so ridiculous saying that, but I truly love having no plans! We ended up going to have dinner with my dad since he cooked out on the grill that evening.

I stayed up until 1 A.M. watching mystery killing shows on TV that night. I am seriously addicted to real-life murder cases. Of course I think it's rotten that people murder and such, but it makes for an interesting TV show. By the way, I also got my Jodi Arias trial fix. I had heard about the case before, but Nancy Grace was doing a recap on the entire trial period and she got me suckered in. Now I'll be tuning in on July 18 when the new Jury meets again to see what goes down.

Last but CERTAINLY not least, Bachelorette Mondays are back! I couldn't be happier. Too bad it interferes with my other show: The Real Housewives of OC. I guess I'll just have to flip back and forth between the shows. By the way, but I love reading the spoilers for The Bachelor/ette shows. I love knowing who wins! And yep, I already know.

Anyways, onto the photos:
1. Saturday morning I woke up, addressed 30 baby shower invites and took them to be mailed off. I am hosting a baby shower in July for my neighbor/cousin!
2. I got the cutest mini Orly polishes ever. They also make mini OPI polishes. I had to try them out.
3. Mommy, Zoey and Layla all matched. We all look fab in pink.

Taste of Tuesday: Homemade Salsa

For Memorial Day, we grilled out at our neighbors. While they cooked hamburgers, I made a delish homemade salsa recipe that I got from my dad. If you're like me, you could eat chips and dip for any given meal. I know that's totally unhealthy, but it's my guilty pleasure.
It's quick, easy, and super budget friendly. By the way, I didn't use exact measurements; I found it easier to change up the taste as I went. But here's a general guideline to use.

+ Whole Peeled Canned Tomatoes
+ Cilantro
+ 2 Jalapenos
+ 1/2 of a white onion
+ Salt and Pepper
I put the tomatoes into the blender first. The I chopped up half of the white onion, 2 jalapenos, and lots of cilantro. I am a nut about cilantro- it's soo good. I also added in some cayenne pepper because I love spice to my food. I topped it off with salt and pepper.

Voila! It's that easy! You've now got delicious homemade salsa.

A Letter To My Stalkers

Stalkers... as in plural. Yep, there are two of them. I know these two females in real life. I first told you about them back in January. Well, because they read my blog I figured I would do a quick shout out to them. Don't feel like you have to comment just because I wrote it. I mostly wrote it as a way to communicate to my IRL stalkers that they need to stop obsessing over me.

P.S. They are in no particular order.

Dear Stalker #1:
I was kinda sorta curious about something: why are you so obsessed with me? I mean, I know I'm pretty freakin cool, but I honestly had no idea that I was THAT cool! You have proved me otherwise though. Because you read my blog every single day (multiple times), I've started to realize how badA I really am. Anyways, on a serious note...don't you have better things to do than stalk me? Like grad school? Or smoking weed? Or something else? You have major daddy-issues and reading my blog isn't going to make you feel any better about your life. You need counselling to fix that.
Dear Stalker #2:
You continue on with your stalkerish ways, now dontcha? I changed my phone number because of you. I deleted my personal Facebook because of you. I blocked you out of my life on purpose. Take.the.hint. What is it about my blog that you're so fascinated with? I love how you want me a part of your life, yet you don't even respect me. Additionally, you seemingly think that you've done nothing wrong. There's nothing you can do or say to make a relationship magically appear. If you would give it time, maybe everyone can heal.

OH MY LANTA, I feel so much better after that schpill. Now Happy Memorial Day friends!

Whoop! There Friday Is!

This weekend is three days (which I love) and I am uber excited. I'm so excited, in fact, that I feel like shaking my groove thing. Why dontcha push 'play' below and jam out with me?
In addition to this old school jam, I am loving a few things on this fabulous Friday. Take a lookie:

1. All things Red, White, and Blue.
Especially this good lookin' drink. I am 99% sure I'm going to make this at some point over the weekend.

2. Pay It Forward gifts.
I sent my girlfriend a Vera Bradley Straightener carrier and when she received it, she was so thankful! I love putting a smile on people's faces! Here's the picture that she snapped!

3. Kendra Scott Earrings.
I've been on a binge lately with KS. In the last 3 weeks, I've purchased three pairs. WHOOPS. I guess that's the way to my heart. I need this pair:

4. This quote.
I've seen it displayed all over the web lately and it really is speaking to me! I absolutely love it.

5. Sleep.
For whatever reason, over the past couple of days, I have been exhausted to the max. I have gone to bed ridiculously early and it's been AWESOME.

Some life lessons

I have been slacking with this Blog Everyday in May challenge. I swear I'll get better. Today's topic is: Things you've learned that school won't teach you.

I don't know about you, but I learned so much more in college than just about my major and minor. Anyone agree? I learned more about myself and life than I could have ever imagined! Here's a few examples:

+ Know your limit of drinking. There does come a point when one drink will put you over the limit. This is a balancing act. I quickly learned when to stop drinking in college. Hangovers are the worst. One time during my freshman year, I was so drunk that I ripped my shirt off (had a bra on) and blew my nose into my shirt and then put it back on. REAL CLASSY. I know. My girlfriends were with me the whole time, and we were right outside of my dorm. But still... alcohol does that to you!
+ Bishes will be bishes. You really have to learn who you can trust as a friend. Those who are true friends will stick by your side through thick and thin. I met my three best friends in college and we're still close today. And on the contrary, of course there are girls that I won't ever be friends with again.
+ Making memories is more important than always following rules. If your friend asks you to do something, DO IT! Example: You can re-take a test, but you can't re-take life. Enjoy every moment possible. During my pledge ship to my sorority, I broke a rule and was banned from going to Barndance, which is A Chi O's annual date party. The rule that I broke: I wasn't allowed to drink while pledging, but I did anyways. I am so glad that I did because I went to a Phi Delt date party that night and had a blast with Ross.
+ Know true love when you see it. I know I speak about love a lot in my blog, but it's the most important thing to me. There's nothing better than true love. God created Ross Skinner just for me, and I knew it whenever I met him in college. Don't pass up an opportunity to fall in love!
So what life lessons did you learn that school didn't teach you? I'd love to hear from you!

May Ipsy Bag

As mentioned before, I subscribed to Ipsy and I am SO glad that I did. I can't wait to get my monthly glam bags! First off, it arrived in a bright pink package (which made me smile) and it was pretty timely too. Let's hope that continues on. Of course as soon as I got the package, I ripped it open with excitement.

Here's what was inside:
+ Glam Bag: Who doesn't love a good chevron pattern? Not to mention, I love blue and orange together. The size is great, and will hold all my weekend necessities.

+ Zoya Nail Polish (Color: Gie Gie): What I like most about this Zoya nail polish is that it has a shiny/sparkly look to it. I rarely buy myself polish that has sparkles to it. I can imagine this color as an accent nail, along with another color that I already own! I was really happy about this being included!

+ Anastasia Clear Brow Gel: I haven't ever had any issues with my brows, but I decided to give it a whirl this morning. And it does seem to be pretty nice. For women who have slightly thicker brows, or if they're uncontrollable, this would be perfect for them.

+ Island Vanilla Perfume Roll-On: This scent immediately reminded me of Jessica Simpson's perfume called "Fancy." If you've smelled that before, then it's very similar. Y'all already know that I'm a perfume addict, so just trust me on this one. I do own Jessica Simpson's Fancy perfume, and while I like it, I can't wear it too much since it's pretty intense. I will say that I love the roll-on perfume concept though. This is brilliant and SO convenient.

+ Mirabella Lipstick (Color: Posy): When I first saw this, I thought, "What a nightmare color." It's straight up RED! But, I decided to give it a whirl, and because it's so sheer and glossy, it worked out fine. I would never buy this for myself in store, but I love that it was sent to me just because I enjoy trying new products.

+ Yaby Concealer (Honey): It was slightly disappointing that even though I put marked that I'm fair skinned on my style quiz, I received a concealer that was too dark. It's really okay though because I'm sure I'll find some way to incorporate it into my beauty regimen.

Overall, I am SO happy with my Ipsy subscription. I am really glad that I signed up to receive one each month! P.S. This is NOT a sponsored post! If you want to join Ipsy too, just go here to sign up!

Operation Smile

I have the world's cutest little brother. Seriously.

As most of y'all should know by now, I grew up with four parents: mom, dad, stepmom, stepdad. This was very normal for me. It's all I've ever known.

Troy, my little brother, is 9 years younger than me. He is "technically" my half brother, but let's get real... we grew up together and I was there the day he was born. We are nothing short of brother and sister. Plus, we have the same momma.
Troy and I the day before my wedding.
On the day Troy was born, I was still pretty young. I remember seeing him for the very first time and two things happened:

1. I was SO HAPPY to have a little brother - even though I originally wanted a sister.
2. I noticed that he looked a little bit different than most babies.

My little brother was born with a Cleft Palate. To learn more about what a Cleft Palate is, you can go here.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with my little brother; he was just born a little differently. Instead of having his mouth and smile instantly perfect at birth, he needed to have some surgeries. Well... I say "some" surgeries, but the truth is that he had several surgeries.

All of these pictures are post-surgery.
I recently learned about Operation Smile and it touched my heart. What does Operation Smile do? Well it's pretty simple: They save lives and also give children born with Cleft Palate/Cleft Lip a beautiful smile. You can read even more about what they do here.

What's EVEN cooler is that anytime someone rents a book from Campus Book Rentals (their partner company), a donation is made to Operation Smile, thus saving more lives! Y'all, this makes me very happy! I love this idea of renting textbooks! Especially for those students who are just taking their general education courses. Who needs to keep those books anyhow?

This video will sum up pretty much everything you need to know about renting a textbook!
So here's what I'm thinking... if you're enrolling in classes anytime soon, or know someone who is, please have them get their textbook from Campus Book Rentals so that way a donation is also made to Operation Smile.

Weekend Update

It's actually a lot of work to blog every single day. Even with designated topics. And, not to mention, my weekends are used up spending quality time with my family (Ross and the girls). Thus, I didn't blog this weekend. At all. Whoopsie.

Here's a little breakdown of what went on:

+ Best friend came into town. We went out to eat and then went country dancing! Oh my gosh, y'all... I got college drunk. I am slightly embarrassed. But we had so much fun. I country danced the night away with husband, and then did the Wop with bestie on the dance floor. I'm positive that she can do the Wop way better than I can.
+ P.S. MY HUSBAND IS SO CUTE. We are going to make cute babies one day, if I do say so myself.

+ Torchy's Tacos = the best ever. If you're ever in Texas, you gotta go. We first learned about it about 2 years ago, and we're seriously obsessed. I had to snap this picture of their signature little devil. We go probably at least once per week. We are soo bad, I know!
+ Husband mowed the lawn and our grass looked supreme. I love how green it is! Zoey clearly does too. She was enjoying the view.

+ My sweet, thoughtful husband wanted to go get him some new flip flops at DSW but when he couldn't find a pair he liked, he said, "Let's go downtown and go to Kendra Scott!" He is sooo sweet. He bought me this pair. Love.
+ I had to snap a picture of the KS store.

Not pictured: We went and saw The Great Gatsby and we really enjoyed it. I loved how long the movie was. I was intrigued the whole time because I genuinely forgot what would happen. I hadn't read the book since junior high or high school.

Also, we watched Texas Chainsaw in 3D at home. I did have some scary dreams after watching that. No more scary movies for me, please. Yikes.

I hope everyone has an awesome week!

Friday Letters

Dear Friday: You rock. So glad to see you again. I have big plans for you and Saturday. It may or may not include consuming some adult beverages.
Dear BFF: I am essited to see you today! And little do you know, but I am going to attempt to get you a boyfriend this evening. One of husband's work friends is coming along with us during tonight's festivities and I have high hopes that y'all will hit it off. You're adorbz, he's adorbz, so it's a win-win sit-chi-ation if you ask me.
Dear Private Blog Readers: I have been updating my private blog more frequently for y'all to read. I also just posted last night with some new updates. Don't forget to be reading that blog as well!

Dear New Michael Kors stuff: I was never really into MK but now I'm kind of obsessing. I bought this MK bag from a blogger for $30. Yippie! I also got a new tablet cover that is Michael Kors from TJ Maxx for only $20. I don't hate it. Now I just need a matching watch. No biggie.
Dear Summer School: You are quickly approaching. I am taking two graduate courses this summer and I'm kind of nervous. Hopefully it doesn't kill me. I ordered the textbooks for the classes and luckily they didn't cost a sh*t ton. 'Preciate that. The only thing I DON'T appreciate is that there's no payment plan option for summer school. This means we gotta pay in bulk. No bueno.

Polyvore obsessed: Part II

As I told you last time, I am uber obsessed with Polyvore. I love creating outfits and then wishing they were really in my closet. That would be way too much fun. I would play dress-up constantly. Here's a look at my most recent creations. All sources of clothing can be found HERE.

The Working Woman look
I have a tendency to wear black pants all the time to work. But I love how it goes with everything!

The Weekender look
This outfit just screams "COMFY!" I love everything about it. It's cute without trying too hard.

The "Baby, Take Me Out!" look
I am obsessed with every piece of this outfit. It's sexy and cute!

The Dancing look
This is a typical outfit that I'd wear, going out country dancing. The pearls really top it off.

The Summer look
Since it's FINALLY hot outside, this is the perfect look to stay cool. Don't forget the aviators.

So what was your favorite look? Do you ever play on Polyvore? I love all the inspiration from there!
