Picture this: red, white, and blue all over the house. Sounds pretty fab, if you ask me. I am a happy wife, indeed. My husband, on the other hand, may think my obsession with July 4th is over the top. But, as the old saying goes, "a happy wife is a happy life." So, he lets it be.
Anyways, I'm getting off topic here.
Today's DIY project is inspired by none other than Pinterest (duh.) The original pin can be found here. If you can't already tell, it's a Freedom banner. Just in the nick of time for Independence Day too. Well, I'll be...
Step one: Collect supplies.
You'll need card stock paper, paint, paint dabbers, burlap triangles, and some twine.
Step Two: Print out any word you'd like to use on your card stock.
I chose the word, "Freedom" for obvious reasons. Hello July 4th. I see ya. Anyways, once you print out your word, you'll have to cut each letter out in order to create a stencil. You basically cut the black printed part out of the paper. Thus, creating the shape of the letter.
Step Three: Using the stencil you just created, paint on the burlap triangles.
I decided to paint every other letter an alternating color. Blue, red, blue red... etc...
Step Four: Hot glue your twine onto the back of each burlap triangle.
Then, don't forget to hang the banner up so that you can admire it while you're watching TV.
Happy DIY'ing, frands. Don't forget to Link up with Stephanie and Katie!
