Just another doctor's appointment?

Do you ever think about little moments, and how you got to a certain point in your life? I was reminded yesterday about the love of God and His plan. It couldn't have shown up at a better time.

Yesterday I went to the doctor. You know... just a routine appointment. I was scheduled with a doctor whom I had never seen before. Two weeks ago, the appointment scheduler told me that this doctor was a "specialist" in the field that I was looking for. A couple of different times while on the phone, the woman on the other end of the line assured me that I was being scheduled with the right person.

Okay. Sounds good. Fast forward two weeks to July 29, 2013 (yesterday).

I checked in early to my doctor appointment because I'm always early everywhere I go. It's kind of ridiculous how much I hate being late. Anyways, I sat in the waiting area for about 15 minutes. Then, I was called back into the room and sat another 30 minutes. I was starting to get annoyed.

Finally the doctor came in and greeted me with a smile and a handshake. He asked, "What brings you in today? How can I help you?" So I gave him my schpill. Not that you need to know the deets. But I told him what I was interested in, and asked his opinion on the matter.

After we talked more about that, we sort of side tracked. He began testing the waters. He said, "If you don't mind..." (he paused) "...I read a scripture this morning that I would like to share with you. God is tugging on my heart to share this with you."

Wow! Blow.away.

So he shared the scripture with me and we talked a minute about it. Then I chimed in with my feelings about the situation in regard to God and being a Christian. It's funny; during the appointment, before he mentioned the scripture, I felt like I wanted to tell him something about God. But I didn't. I am not sure why. Once he opened up to me, I felt like I could.

Long story short: We ended up talking to each other for at least 45 minutes - well over my appointment time. He mentioned to me, "I think I know why you were scheduled to meet with myself. I also understand why God showed me that verse this morning." Those were some powerful words.

Then, as if God's presence wasn't already easily noticeable, the doctor asked if he could pray for myself. I agreed, and he grabbed my hands. And we prayed. Yes, a medical doctor at a normal hospital. And we prayed. Just like that.

After thanking him a bajillion times, I left and headed out to my car. In the parking lot, all alone, I got teary-eyed and started talking out loud. I said, "God, I just want to thank you for letting me know that you've been hearing my prayers." It was in that moment that I realized he could truly hear me.

It was such an amazing experience. I can't even put into words how blessed I feel. God does some amazing things.

Weekend Update

As planned, our weekend was a good one. Aren't weekends always good!? I vote yes. Yes, indeed!

1. I so enjoy this view in the summertime. It makes me so happy. It wasn't too hot that evening either, which was great!
2. Tickets for the Express game on Friday night. Don't you love that it's red, white, and blue? Hehe!
3. Seriously, not even kidding. This is officially my favorite drink EVER! I got the recipe from Jessica and I am sooo glad that I decided to try it out!
4. We planted two baby plants (in place of the poisonous ones) on Saturday. These cute plants are going to get huge come next summer. Oh how convenient. Just in time for my 4th of July party!
5. Such a happy mail day when these new Jack Rogers arrived. Oh my heart is smiling. #latestaddiction #iamsobad
Not pictured: Ross and I watched The Host on Saturday night. Have y'all seen it? It was pretty great! Same writer as the Twilight series, so I knew it'd be worth while.

In other news, I am only working a couple of days this week. Earlier in the summer, I scheduled some time off around the end of the semester (now) to make sure I could submit good assignments. So, a couple of days this week I will be studying, writing papers, going to the dentist, running errands, and getting my hair trimmed! So for that, it's a HAPPY Monday! To start you out on the right foot, check out this inspirational quote :) I tend to love it.
On a side, fairly unrelated note, can I just say that I love my husband?! I am so thankful to God that He brought us together. That's all really. I just thought I'd throw that out there. Feel free to vomit now or later - that's completely up to you.

Five on Friday

Today, my heart is happy! And it's not just because it's Friday. Let's get down to bizznazz!

I love these ladies right here. Jordon, Jess, and Ashley are the sweetest ever, and guess what? All of us are real! That means that our Nashville trip is going to officially happen, haha! Don't let our happy faces fool you... we had major technical difficulties getting all set up with our webcams. But that's completely beside the point. The point is that I love them! YAYAY!
Yep, you are in the right place... I just get bored with the same layout for too long. So I created a brand new one. Want to know my secret? I ONLY use PicMonkey and Paint. Not even kidding. Sooo, if you play around in both of those long enough, you can make your own layouts too and not have to pay someone to do them. And everyone loves saving money. Amiright?!
Ross works for Google and they're having a little work-shindig tonight that I'm excited about. Yes, there will be an open bar. I am 100% okay with that. I do intent to take full advantage. What would you do if you were in my situation? You would drink. A lot.
One more week until my summer graduate courses are dunzo. Oh, and I just so happen to be making A's in both of them. A little hard work pays off! Fall classes don't start until late August, so I'll still have some type of break.
If I'm being totally honest, I don't completely care for Kenny Chesney, but this song makes me SO HAPPY. I love everything about it. It makes me want to dance sooo bad. Please tell me that you agree?!?!

Influenster review

It's so nice to be able to test out products before actually purchasing them! Sometimes I see things at the store and I think, "Is there a travel size in that?" Who is with me?! I have a weird obsession with travel size items. I just don't want to commit to an entire bottle when I can test out a smaller amount first. When Influenster sent me the below items, I was so excited to try them out! I hope you'll check out the goodies that I received. The links are also included.
1. Dr. Scholl's High Heel Insoles. These inserts are super comfy and squishy... which I like! On days that I am walking around a lot in my heels at work, these have been a life saver! I tend to get Charlie Horses really easily, but these insoles have seemed to help out! So happy that I got to try 'em out.

2. Goody Ouchless Ribbon ElasticsColor: Multicolor. This was actually a really neat concept; hair ties that are made of elastic ribbon. I feel like these hair ties are much more stylish than your typical brown or black ones. Not to mention, how many of us are guilty of wearing their hair tie on the wrist? Yep, I am too. These look like an accessory when they're on your wrist!

3. Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream - Color: Fair to Light. This stuff smells absolutely amazing. I couldn't even believe it! On days that I know I'll be outside a lot (like this weekend when we were doing yard work), I put this BB cream on. I feel like it not only has decent coverage, but I really like that it has sunscreen in it as well. Normally, I like a pretty hefty coverage on my face, but this BB cream is my alternative for days that I am either running errands or being more active.

4. Sinful Shine Nail Polish - Color: Skinny Dipping. Honestly? This stuff works JUST as good as OPI or Essie and it's literally half the cost. I am completely sold. It's definitely the best product that I received. I was just so happy with it! And the color was really beautiful. Blue just so happens to be my favorite, so it worked out great!

Have you used any of these products before? If so, what are your thoughts?! I would love to hear!

Alphabet Dating: C

On Saturday before the concert that we had purchased tickets for, my husband said, "Can we somehow turn this into a "C" date for our alphabet dating?" So cute, right? Bless his heart. So of course I said yes. We got right down to business brainstorming.
The concert part of the "C" date was already established, but we needed a couple more ideas. That's when Ross proposed that we go out to eat on Congress in downtown Austin. And that we should only drink Chardonnay. So that's exactly what we did!
We had dinner at the Roaring Fork on Congress and drank some Chardonnay. We ended up ordering what was called the "Big Ass Burger" and it was just that; it was huge.

Next, we headed over to Austin City Limits where we had tickets for Rodrigo Y Gabriela. If you don't know about them (I didn't until I met Ross), they are a man & woman duo that are amazing guitar players. It's actually kind of incredible how fast their hands move. I believe Rod and Gabi are a long-time couple but not married. That's beside the point. They are awesome guitar players!
While we were at ACL, of course we snapped some cute photos of ourselves. Ross is a whiskey drinker through and through, so when we saw this huge bottle of Jack, we needed a picture of him with it. Then, to make things even cooler, I saw a huge Tennessee sign and it made me think of the upcoming girls trip that I'm taking! So I had to have a picture!
Last thing, just listen to this short clip of Rodrigo Y Gabriela (below). They are pretty amazing! Ross was in heaven during the entire concert.

Weekend Update

Minus the fact that my husband and I purchased/planted poisonous plants, this weekend was good. Yep, we had to dig them up and we're going to attempt to return them to the local plant nursery. Not sure if they'll let us, but we're surely going to try. Apparently the Oleander is the number one most poisonous plant ever. It looks so harmless though.

I cannot believe the nursery sold it to us. But then again, they're only concerned about the business side. What.were.we.thinking? Next time, we'll do our research first. Our front yard has been pretty since last summer, but we haven't really touched our backyard as far as plants go.

Next weekend we will be doing more yardwork, rest assured. Hopefully this time I'll remember to wear sunscreen so I don't get burnt again. UGH. #whitegirlprobz

Anyways, onto the fun stuff that happened.
1. Husband and I went to a concert at Austin City Limits and had a grand ole time. I snapped this picture in honor of Nancy J, duh! This made me think of her and how excited I am to see her soon! Come back tomorrow to see our "C" date for Alphabet Dating!
2. Homegoods never lets me down. I am SO obsessed with this new phone case even though it's not monogrammed. It's currently cuddled up with my iPhone and I think that if my phone could talk, it would say, "EEK!"
3. SO ESSITED over this purchase. I have been drooling over Jack Rogers sandals for quite some time and I finally picked some up from the Nordstrom's Rack on sale! (You have to know by now that I don't have full price for anything!) I cannot wait to wear this babies STAT. I am also thinking... Fourth of July party next year? Yes? Yes.
Happy Monday!

Five on Friday

Sometimes you get sweet little reminders how blessed you really are. Long story short: my Wednesday was no good. I cried and cried, and then once that was done, I cried a little more. I told two of my girlfriends about my day, and they were sooooooo thoughtful to send me "feel better" gifts while I was at work. It's actually kind of unbelievable. Ashley sent me these beautiful flowers, and my cousin/neighbor sent me cookies! It 100% made my day. I am still smiling.

It's true... I am a sucker for these murder trials. I just get all caught up in watching Nancy Grace, even though she annoys me sometimes. I will keep my TV on HLN all weekend long.

After listening to the Bobby Bones Show every morning, I was reminded of how awesome this band is. Y'all already know how obsessed I am with 90's country music. I've told you 500 thousand times. Go ahead and hit the play button below and take a trip back in time with me. Kthnx.

Speaking of music, husband and I are going to a guitar concert this weekend. Sounds confusing right? Well, if you knew my husband, you would know that his favorite music is anything acoustic. He loves Eric Clapton, Trace Bundy, etc. Actually, the song, "Layla" by Eric Clapton was the very reason that we have a furbaby named Layla. We love that song, and it flows perfectly with Skinner. Layla Skinner. Initially, we wanted to save that name for our future human child, but we have a feeling we'll be having boys. SO, therefore, we gave it to our pup.

Last but certainly not least, I get daily reminders that I should "dance in the rain." No, not literally. I would prefer not to have a frizz-fest on my head. But metaphorically, I am learning to (slightly) embrace difficult times in my life. I am by no means perfect and am still adjusting to accepting things I cannot change.

I Confess sesh

Today you're getting a quick I Confess sesh from me. It's only appropriate, considering how chaotic my life has been as of late. So sit back in your chair and read along at my expense. I can't believe I am writing some of this stuff.

+ I confess that I've probably been spending too much of my husband's money lately. I'll stop now. But it's not my fault. I completely blame it on the Nordstrom's Factory Outlet store. They sell Kendra Scott stuff for 50% off, and their Michael Kors stuff is 40%. How can I say no!? Correct answer: I can't. I just get so excited.
+ I confess that I ugly cried for about 45 minutes straight yesterday. And I'm not even joking either. Some of you know why, but others don't. That's okay. The point is that it's okay to cry every now and again. Now that I got it all out of my system, I am perky Allison again!
+ I confess that I plan on getting drunk this weekend. There are times when you just need to drink some alcohol and dance silly. This is one of those weekend. I am predicting it now. Of course I'll be a lady about it. Seek the heights. (Shout out A Chi O!)
+ I confess that since I bought this bathing suit on sale ($3!), I have gotten 4 more baby items. OMG, I am soo bad and I know it. I've recently learned of several ladies who collect things for their future children. So I am just fitting right in. I showed Ross and he wasn't all that entertained. He prefers that we wait until there's a human inside my body. I beg to differ.

+ I confess that as much as I hate Jason Aldean for cheating on his wife, this song is the jam. I truly want to hate Jason. Really, I do. What a pathetic excuse for a man. But, I will be the first to admit that he has some good music.

A little inspiration never hurt anybody

Some days you just need to turn to Pinterest for some inspirational quotes. Amiright? Lucky for you, I've complied some of my more recent favorites. I hope this makes your Wednesday even brighter!
And my favorite of all...

Weekend Update on a Tuesday

Truth is... I'm a busy lady, trying to balance husband, work, school, and friends. Not to mention, I really REALLY like my lazy time.

Speaking of lazy time... I honest-to-goodness look forward to Friday and Saturday nights due to Mystery Detectives (FAVORITE SHOW EVER!). Well guess what? Because silly ole George Zimmerman's verdict was in the works Friday night, my show was cancelled on HLN. Then, once the verdict was announced on Saturday, they canceled my show again. WAHH! I feel like crying. But then I remember I'm an adult.

But, in all reality I am obsessed with murder trials. Other than a country music star, or a solider, I'm pretty sure I was a forensic detective in a previous life. Or in a future life. But that's neither here nor there.

Anyways this weekend was short and sweet.
1. ADORBZ 4th of July swimsuit that I got for my futuristic baby Skinner. I have heard from many ladies that they've been shopping for their futuristic kids for years. I have been totally missing out. This is the very first thing I've ever purchased for a human being that hasn't even been created yet. Ross said, "What if we have a boy in the future?" I proposed that our son simply wear the star bottom as a speedo. What do y'all think? It could work.
2. Bestie came to see me on Friday! We went out to eat and had many laughs, of course. Lupe Tortilla always leaves me with one happy belly.
3. What in the world would we do without TJ Maxx? Thank you to them for selling me a $50 gel polish kit. Online and in other stores, this baby is $125. Pretty sure I love this purchase. Run to your nearest TJ Maxx and thank me later.

Not pictured: We went and saw The Heat and it was soooo hiliarous! "Are you or are you not a narc?" I also really liked the scenes with the albino. There were so many funny moments!
On another note, because this has been a sufficiently random post, let's look at some meme's that make me happy. Specifically because they remind me of my husband.

Five on Friday

This week has been a long and exhausting one. On Wednesday, I got home from work and took an hour nap. Once I woke up, I had to be slightly productive which isn't always the most fun things ever. Buttttt, today is Friday, which makes everything better. Per usual, here's a few things that I'm loving on this pretty day.

This little beauty arrived in my mailbox and I couldn't be happier. I got it from Groopdealz. I think it was under $10. SO WORTH IT. Seriously. I am sure Etsy sells it too, if you are wanting one!

Hopefully by now you've all seen that hump day commercial. Yes? If you missed it, you can watch it here. Anyways, I somehow came across the shirt and purchased it for husband. To say the very least, he was thrilled. He even said that the shirt was a hit at work. You can be just as cool by purchasing one for your husband too! Just go here.

We are going to watch The Heat with our neighbors this weekend and I'm excited. The movie looks pretty funny. Have any of y'all seen it? How was it? Check out the trailer below:

Sometimes you just need a little old school country song to make your day. Back in my day, this was THE jam. I am officially singing out loud. Join me?

School is over halfway over for the semester. THANK YOU, JESUS. Seriously. It's kicking my tail end. My summer has not only flown by (UGH), but it's sucked the life right out of me at times. This is my view almost every single night. Oh yay. I am so much fun.
