You might be (getting) old

Pretty much, the 80's and 90's was amazefest. Though I am still a few years off from 30 (3.5 years to be exact), I am TERRIFIED of that age. Remember when you were little, people older than you thought they were "cooler"? Well that is the complete opposite for how I feel. Anyone that is younger is way cooler; I sorta-kinda fear getting older.

Anyways, back to the 80's and 90's. When I wasn't jumping on the trampoline, swimming, or playing in mud (ew), I was inside messing with some other neato things.
CREEPY, right?!?
Do you remember all of these goodies below???

Polly Pocket
Isn't it strange how this little contraption would be so entertaining? I think I had this exact one.

Tamagotchi
I was physically unable to do anything else in this world until I had fed my pet.

Pogs
To this day, I still have my collection of pogs somewhere. What was the purpose of those things anyway?!

Reading Rainbow
Take a look, it's in a book... a reading rainbow!

The Elephant Show
Skidamarink a-dink, a-dink, Skidamarink a-doo, I love you. I love you in the morning and in the afternoon; I love you in the evening and underneath the moon.

Walkman
I think this was one of my favorite presents that I had ever received. Oh how times have changed.

Doc Martens
If you didn't have a pair of these back in the day, you were not cool. Looking back, these are extremely hideous.

Foam Rollers
I literally used these all the time when I was a little girl. You wash your hair, put these babies in while your hair is still damp, and then look ridiculous in the morning when you unroll them.

MASH
This was the only way to predict the future.

Hand Games
He rocks in the tree-top all a day long, hoppin' and a-boppin' and a-singin' the song. All the little birdies on J-Bird St. love to hear the robins go tweet tweet tweet. Rockin' robin (tweet tweet tweet-a-leet), Rockin' robin (tweet tweet tweet-a-leet).

If you remember one of all of these things, it's a sure sign that you are aging. Just like fine wine.

  1. Oh man, I'm actually in love with Doc Martens. But I agree that they aren't quite in line with popular taste right now. I was pretty young in the 90s...I do remember polly pockets, and my sister had a tamagotchi...and one of the most traumatizing memories is when my Mom made us go out in public in our foam rollers to set up for my uncle's wedding because she didn't want to do our hair until right before the wedding. :P

  2. Very funny post! I am actually in my 40s now. Turning 30 was not a big deal for me but 35 hit me hard. Then I realized that there are many cool things that go along with getting older and I just learned to embrace where I am at on the age spectrum. I have friends who are 25 and others who are in their 70s. The thirties are great so look forward to that decade! Blessings! Susan

  4. Ah, this brought me back! I'm 1.5 years away from 30 and I'm kinda excited!! Mainly because I have a list of to-do's before I hit the big 3-0! Pretty sure I owned that exact Polly Pocket set! And I wouldn't go anywhere without my Tomigotchi's! Junior high was all about the Doc Martin's... and I definitely HAD to have a pair (or 4)... I wouldn't touch them now - LOL!

    Love ya!

  9. Oh man my mom had to keep up with my Tamagotchi while I was at school and I would be so pissed when she wouldn't feed it. Did she not see the importance of my little digital pet???
