Six things

I vote that we go over six random things you may be curious about yours truly. Here goes nothin'.

1. What is the story behind your blog name?
First off, when deciding upon a blog name, I knew that I wanted it short and sweet. So that was the first criteria. Second, I wanted a blog name that truly represented me as a whole. Think big picture. So once I narrowed it down to those two requirements, it was simple.

The "Texas" part of my blog name is because I am a native Texan. It's something that I'm not only extremely proud of, but I feel like it's a way of life. That being said, don't get me wrong: I am a lover of other states as well, and I also have several friends in other states (hello, blog friends!).

The "Mrs." part of my blog name represents who I am in the most holistic form. I may be a lot of things (ex: friend, graduate student, shopper, wine-o, etc) but "Mrs." is the best description of me.

Therefore, Texas Mrs. is the best fit.

2. What’s your biggest accomplishment in life?
Speaking of my blog name, I need to mention something kinda neat about myself.

When God created me, he molded me to be a wife. That is my purpose on this earth. I am 100% confident in that. Therefore, marrying my best friend has been the biggest accomplishment in my life thus far. I honestly don't foresee anything topping that either. Not even having kids. Don't get me wrong; I definitely (without a speck of doubt) want kids. However, I don't believe you should put your kids before your spouse. Just my opinion.
3. What is one piece of advice that you live by?
Don't compare your life to others... because you will be disappointed.

I recently saw someone post a social media status about how they don't understand why so&so has such an easy life. It made me so freaking mad. Wanna know why? Because they themselves appear to have such an easy life yet I don't dwell on that because I know their life isn't perfect; they pretty much showed that in writing the status.

Everyone apparently always wants what they can't have. So living your life comparing yourself will only make you miserable. I choose to accept my life as it is - blessings and trials and all. No, my life isn't perfect but I sure make the best of it.

4. What is one of your favorite memories?
From sixth grade until my sophomore year in college, I was a proud band nerd. I completely own that!

Marching Band was easily my favorite memory as a youngster. Every time I think about those good times, a smile winds up on my face. I lived for Friday pep rally's and football games in high school. Another fun fact: back in my day, we prayed before we marched out on the field. Yep, that's what living in the bible belt will do to you. And yes, it was the entire band as a whole; not just a few of us. Now-a-days, I have no clue if they still allow that. I think my experience was pretty neat.

College marching band was also a great memory! Because of my involvement in the Bearkat Marching Band, I really grew to love my university even more. I felt like my college experience was the most traditional one ever, which I love! My confidence in being a student even led me to rush the sorority that I wanted! You can read about my experience here.
Gawd... does anyone remember the choker trend from the early 2000's?
5. Why do you blog?
I blog for several reasons! Here's just a few of them:

+ I enjoy writing. I do not claim to have perfect grammar or spelling, but in general, I just enjoy the process of writing. Or rather, typing. Same difference.

+ I feel like blogging can be therapeutic in that others can connect to you based upon the topic you write about. You never know when someone else is going through the same experiences as you!

+ I like making connections. Playing off the previous bullet point, I enjoy being able to connect to new friends. Who knew I would meet such amazing people, like Ashley!

+ It's a way of life. Honestly, once becoming a blogger, it becomes a part of your life. It's a routine. And a fun one, at that.

6. Do you like winter or summer better? Why?
True story: My body shakes uncontrollably when I am cold. Apparently I have extremely thin blood, because it's nearly impossible for me to get warm in the winter time. I am constantly wearing sweat pants and a hoodie in the house. That being said, I am a summer girl.

I would so much rather than sweating, with the heat pouring down on me than to be even semi cold. I just feel miserable when I'm cold. However, I think if I lived in the north or was exposed to cold weather long enough that I could eventually get used to it! Not only do I currently live in Texas, but I central/south-ish Texas. It does NOT snow here. Nope, never.

The band picture is so cute! I was on dance team in high school and we always practiced marching with the band during football season. Some of my best (and worst) memories come from those days!
