Weekend Update

This weekend was one of my favorites. Mainly because it had to do with the following:

+ My oldest baby turned 4 years old
+ Being extra lovely dovey with my husband due to our anniversary
+ Cuddling with baby Harper
+ Season premier of Homeland
+ Series finale of Breaking Bad

If you ask me, all those things equal pure happiness. Well, except for the fact that BB is no longer going to be a part of my life. That in itself makes me very sad. But yea... let's get down to the deets of it all.
On Thursday, my oldest Princess Bear turned 4 years old. My, oh my! She is one sweet little girl. In honor of her b-day, we bought her a new toy. Take a look at this cute video.
Long story short: I am very proud of the doggy Zoey has become. I also have to say that Layla (the black and white one) is the sweetest doggy in all the land. Her birthday is next month! We can't wait to celebrate.

Friday during the day, I did a little shopping and guess who I ran into??? SHANNA from Because Shanna Said So. So fun, right? Her and I saw each other and immediately smiled and chatted/hugged! We plan to meet up in the future for lunch or dinner sometime :)

That evening, hubbs and I went to a romantic dinner. But before we headed to the restaurant, we had to snap a picture. He's mighty fine, if I do say so myself.
We had the best time ever on Friday! Here's a look at how our evening went.
1. Another photo op of my cute hubbs and I.
2. Dramatic makeup for the night. Hubbs said he loved my lipstick! It was bright, but fun.
3. Dinner at The Range! We love this place!
4. I can't even describe in words how great our dinner was. My mouth is currently water as I think about it. It was a filet, some veggies, and scalloped potatoes. Oh gracious, it was good!
5. After dinner, we headed to a local beer-bar!
6. We ended our evening at a wine bar.

Saturday, we took it easy considering how much rain we got. It was a stay-indoors kind of day. We did a little cleaning, and a lot of napping. That night, we went to our neighbors where I got to cuddle with little Miss Harper. She melts my heart. We had pizza and watched a movie there. We watched The Place Beyond The Pines. It was different than I expected... Have y'all seen it?

Sunday was spent doing a lot of schoolwork (because I've been slacking) and then TV watching! I sorta teared up at the end of Breaking Bad. I cannot believe it's over!!! It's been ... what???... 5 seasons? It doesn't seem real for it to all end. But all good things must come to an end, I guess.

Hope everyone's week is awesome!

Five on Friday

Truly, I am sorry for being a bad blogger this week. But I have plenty of other things going on right now and I am doing my best to juggle them all! I promise to get back into the swing of things real soon :-) Anyways, let's do Five on Friday... duh!

1. Anniversary Vacay
Pretty excited about mine and hubbys little getaway. Originally we were going to do Colorado. We bought plane tickets, reserved a hotel and car... all that jazz. But did you hear about the awful flooding that took place in Boulder? The entire city is a "federal disaster area" now. So, no thank you to that. We cancelled our flight and went a different route. Can't wait to tell y'all all about it!
2. Dress
In lieu of our upcoming anniversary, we are going to a fancy schmancy dinner tonight. I am pumped. Of course I had to get a new dress. It's so beautiful. I couldn't find a picture online for whatever reason, so I'll try to model it before dinner and make hubbs take pictures!

3. Jordon's Wedding
I can't believe it's finally here! Jordon is going to be a part of the MRS club very soon. As in tomorrow. EEK! I am really happy for her! I originally "met" Jordon through blogging when her and I had like 3.5 followers. As Drake would say, "started from the bottom, now we're here."

4. This Song
Speaking of Drake, I am obsessing over this song. He's really kinda foine too. Anyone else agree?

5. Zoey Bear
Yesterday was my oldest's fourth birthday! That's right... ZB turned four years old!!! Unbelievable. Check out how cute my princess was as a baby.
That's all for today. Have a happy happy Friday lovebugs! I am linking up today!

Update + Favie YouTube Vids

I'm not even going to lie to you... while at home last week, recovering from surgery, I watched a LOT of TV. I am surprised that my booty doesn't hurt from sitting/laying so much. It was amazing though. So relaxing.

I also entertained myself by watching some of my favieYouTube vids. Have y'all seen these? Hilarious.

P.S. I would've post this way earlier in the day, but I went to the Emergency Room last night, per my nurse's order. I am fine now - don't worry about me. But I've been really dizzy the past couple of days. Luckily, nothing was wrong with my bloodwork. That was their biggest concern since I was on hydrocodone and 800mg of Ibuprofen.

Anyways, enough talk about my health. Let's get to the videos! I've only included three of my favorites, well... because there are too many that I like, but these were the first three to come in mind! Happy Hump Day.

"Dude, you slapped a fish."

"I'm her mom........... No, she's not."

The 15 second pose at the end is my favorite.

Week + Weekend Update

I had several people asking me, "If you were in recovery from surgery, how were you able to find time for blogging?" The answer is simple, peeps, I didn't blog. Not for a split second. I actually slept 90% of the time. The other 10% of the time was spent walking (really slowly) around the house for some exercise. So what I'm saying is that I scheduled those posts last week. I wasn't actually blogging. Silly kiddos.

On that note, let's talk about my week.

Monday was surgery. I was extremely loopy pretty much all day. Once we got home from the hospital, I just passed out like I hadn't slept in days. I decided that sometime in the near future I am going to write a post about my surgery experience in detail, including the recovery process.

Throughout the week, I had family and friends visit. It made me tear up to know how many loved ones cared so much to send a thoughtful gift or just call and check on me. I got several flower arrangements and lots of sweet treats. I am so grateful.

On Friday morning, I was just well enough to be able to drive myself to Sprint, order the new iPhone, and come back home to rest. I am pretty stinking excited that I ordered it though. I can't wait for that baby to arrive!!! Who else got the new iPhone?

Let's get down to the fun stuff; my weekend!
1. I couldn't believe this amazing weather this weekend. It was so beautiful outside. We soaked up as much of it as we could. I am not sure I could handle much colder weather, but I know that it's bound to happen.
2. Baby Colin arrived! I haven't gotten to meet him yet, but I will meet him very soon. One of my best friends from high school got induced late Wednesday night, and Colin made his arrival on Thursday. What a sweet baby.
3. This little girl makes me so happy. Just call me Aunt Allison, because that's basically who I am to Harper. No, not literally... but basically. Her mommy and daddy are good friends with Ross and I... not to mention her mommy and I are distance cousins. So I fully intend to be in Harper's life forever!
4. A little get-well-soon prezzie to myself!
5. Hubbs and I had a spur of the moment date night on Saturday. We did dinner and a movie... and booze.

To make things even cooler, we got to see a couple more pictures from our second anniversary photo shoot. Speaking of, only one week until we celebrate our anniversary. Time sure does go by fast.
***Last thing, please don't get mad at me blogger friends, but I do NOT understand this Phillip Lim obsession. What am I missing here??? I went to Target expecting to buy the same purse everyone has been buying (you know... this one), and I was just not impressed. It was the very last one, and I didn't even feel bad putting it back on the shelf. I can buy a better quality purse at Coach for the same price. Or there are some cuter Target purses for cheaper, like this one. After much debate, I knew I had to have that brown cheaper one. BUT, I decided to order it online through ebates so I could get some cash monay back. I'm pretty excited for a good mail day. Anyways, please let me in on the deets about PL. What am I missing here?

I'm linking up with Sami today. Tootles, y'all.

Recent favie beauty products

1 - The POREfessional by Benefit. For whatever reason, I have rather large pores. This stuff is expensive and it works. I've tried several different pore minimizes and this has to be my favorite. Not to mention, for the $30 tube, you get a lot of product! A little goes a long way. I use this product as a primer before applying foundation.

2 - Clay Finishing Powder by Tarte. I've been using this more and more lately. It dramatically makes my skin feel silky soft and smooth after I apply my makeup. I just got the trial size and it's been lasting me a while. Sometimes I'll use this product instead of a regular powder. I feel like it sets my makeup really well.

3 - Matte Lipstick by NYX. I have never ever ever been a lipstick person until I tried this stuff. And now I am completely sold. I am in love! I have used two different pinks: the brightest and the palest, and I feel so beautiful when I put it on. I love that it's a matte finish and not shiny. It seems to make the product look more natural on my lips.

4 - Heavy Duty Concealer by Hard Candy. Let me preface this by saying I bought this at Wal-Mart. The reason that I say that is because I have a huge hatred for Wally World. Too many bad customer service experiences there. Anyways, that's beside the point. This concealer is awesome and has a nice full coverage, which I love. It can even (apparently) cover tattoos. I don't know this for a fact since I don't have a tattoo but that's what the word is.

5 - Synthetic Angled Eye Liner Brush by Sonia Kashuk. I recently purchased this eyeliner brush and I am so glad that I did. I feel like my eyeliner has been so much more natural looking since using it. I have used several of her other brushes and I really like her products.

So are there any new products that you've tried? I would love to know what they are!

Living Room Bed

Not gonna lie, I had a lot of fun doing "finish the sentence" last time that I decided to do it again. I got the idea here. Just go with it, and feel free to copy me too. It's loads of fun, lemme tell you!

My friends... are roughly 10 times better than your friends. Just kidding. But for real. Ashley sent me a box of cookies (red, white, and blue -- duh) the other day as a "get well" for my surgery. She is just so dang thoughtful. And I texted another biffle all day Sunday and she just made me smile.

People call me... Allison, Alli, or in some cases, Gatewood. Gatewood is my maiden name and there are plenty of people still call me that. It's sort of humorous but then I think, "Get with the picture." But in a totally nice way.

I wish... that there was a bed in our living room. How awesome would that be? For whatever reason, I am just not a couch type of lady. I like the bed. Bed+TV=Pure happiness. I will be doing a lot of that this week.

I really don't understand... why Kim and Kanye named their baby North?! That poor thang. And I also don't understand why Miley Cyrus is going downhill so fast. I hate to say it, but these days that poor girl is a train wreck  She's quickly catching up to Lindsay Lohan.

There's nothing like a... Topo Chico. It is seriously so refreshing. I have tried to get others on the bandwagon and I don't know that it has totally worked, but that's okay. That leaves more for me!
Lately, I can't get enough of... beauty products. I have become unreasonably obsessed. Spending money left and right on new products to try out is actually sort of a blast. Not to mention, it makes doing my make up that much more fun! Come back tomorrow to see my recent favorites.

One thing I am NOT is... a pessimistic person. It kills me (inside) when people constantly live their life in a pissed off mood. I went to a wedding last year and kid you not, the bride was pissed the entire day. Like, brighten up. You're supposed to be happy and in love on your wedding day. Not PMS'ing over no good reason.

I can't stop... watching Mystery Detectives. It's become a ritual on Friday and Saturday nights. I even started DVRing episodes so that I don't miss any. If you haven't ever seen it before, it's basically a forensic evidence show and I am obsessed.

I spend too much money on... Kendra Scott earrings. I will admit that. But it would help if they weren't so dang cute. Can I get an amen???
I want to learn.... how to be a professional makeup artist. I have been watching several YouTube videos lately about beauty products and make up and I decided that being a make up artist would be the coolest thing of all time.

If I ever met ______, I would... NSYNC. I would probably pee my pants (first off) and then scream. It would be an extremely high pitched squeal. Yea, that's more like it. Screaming sounds scary, but squealing sounds terrific. And then they would perform a private concert for me. Yep, that's exactly how it would happen.

I am happy when... Homeland, Sons of Anarchy, Breaking Bad, and Walking Dead are on TV. They have to be my favie TV series ever. Oh and I can't forget about Vampire Diaries. Weeeeeee.

This will not be long today. I am exhausted from surgery and will be posted up in bed all week. I just wanted to let everyone know that things went well yesterday and I got my questions answered. For that, I am so thankful.
I do have plans to eventually fill everyone in. Not to mention, I'd like to write a post about the surgery itself so that others will know what to expect if they ever have to go through it. Overall, my pain isn't too bad, but I have plenty of medication if it gets worse.

I will say this: I feel unbelievably blessed by the love and support that I've been shown. So thank you to everyone for that.

More likely than not, I'll be blowing up your Instagram and Facebook newsfeed. So either A) be prepared, or B) unfollow me if I get too annoying. Ha. But really... being in bed all week long, I envision myself playing on there quite a bit.

I'm off to sleep some more.

Weekend Update

Let's talk about how great this weekend was.

Wait... let's rephrase that.

Let's talk about how great Friday night and Saturday was. Sunday... not so much. And that is better left unwritten. But as you can probably imagine, pre-surgery does require that you "clean out" your body. Let's leave it at that.

Anyways, by the time you read this, I will probably be right in the middle of surgery. (Yes, this post was scheduled.) That also means that I won't be able to "moderate" the comments until I am awake enough to click "publish." Sooo... if you leave me happy notes, I will certainly publish them once I get the chance. Speaking of, I hate that I even have to moderate comments, but such is life.

Oh yea... you're probably still thinking about me mentioning surgery. I told y'all that I was going under the knife soon. And the day has finally arrived. I'm a nervous wreck, true story. BUT, it's for the better. Furthermore, I will have answers to questions that I've been needing. Don't feel totally left in the dark; very few people actually know what the surgery consists of. Everyone will know in due time.

Here's a little look at our weekend:
1. On the way to take our second anniversary pictures!
2. Jenni posted a sneak peak. She did awesome. I can't wait to see the rest :)
3. Pre-surgery drinks. Disgusting. That would be a half gallon of Gatorade with the mix. Just looking at this photo makes me gag.

On another note, I will be an "aunt" soon! Two of my girlfriends are due with babies this week and I couldn't be more happy for them. I am super pumped to cuddle up with the little cuties!

That's all. Say a prayer that everything goes smoothly for me today.

Joking Bad

Please tell me some of my bloggity friends watch Breaking Bad? Anyone?

Well I am kind of obsessed.

I was browsing YouTube and came across this amazing video spoofing BB. It will definitely make your Friday that much better, so enjoy!

Monograms & Bon Qui Qui

I was reading Jessica's blog yesterday and decided that I would be a copy cat and do a post very similar to her's about 'finishing the sentence.' Only exception: I've removed a couple that she used, and added a few more.

Here goes nothin'.

My happy place... is at home, cuddling up with my husband and puppies. There is nothing in this entire world that makes me happier. And I am dead serious when I say that.

I cannot live without... Blistex Chapstick. It's not right how much I rely on that stuff. But I've been addicted to chapstick since I was a little girl. I remember having an addiction when I was about 9 or 10 years old. So, well over half of my life, I've been a chapstick-fanatic.

Whatever happened to... Saved By The Bell? I mean, I get it... they were in high school... then in college... but why not continue the story on? That show is one of my favorite childhood memories!

So what if I... monogram everything on planet earth? I don't see a harm in that. Exhibit A, my newest purchase. You can get one here, too! But, don't forget to use ebates before you check-out. You get cash money back. Yes, for real. I am in LOVE with my purse!
I get so annoyed when... people are competitive. Actually, I get beyond annoyed when that happens. I am the least competitive person ever. Probably even to a fault. But nothing irritates me more than when someone lives their life just to "compete" against me or someone else. It's not cute. So don't do it. People just look desperate when they do that.

My go-to fast food meal is... Chic-Fil-A. And it just so happens that I always crave it on Sundays, when they're closed. But that doesn't stop my mouth from watering.

You might not know that I... am a morning person. I never hit snooze, and I am instantly awake when my alarm goes off. I, however, cannot stay up very late. Grandma status right here.

My personality is awesome because... I can laugh about the most simple things. I guess I am easily entertained or something, because things that normal people don't laugh about cracks my stuff up.

I think it's super gross when... people poke my belly button. Belly buttons are so disgusting so you better not come even remotely close to touching mine. I will cuttt you (said in Bon Qui Qui voice).
I confess that... I 100% believe in hair extensions and wear them often! Unfortunately, I wasn't blessed with long, flowy hair. But that's why God invented hair extensions. I usually wear the clip-in kind on weekends or for special events. I use these in the color Chestnut. And yes, I SWEAR by them. But for my wedding, I got real human hair bonded into my hair. They lasted for 3 months. Worth every single penny.

Wedding Wednesday: Engagement Photos

My studly husband and I will be celebrating TWO YEARS of marriage in less than three weeks. And we're taking our second anniversary photos this Saturday with the lovely Jenni. I am really excited to meet her in person since I follow her blog and all. By the way, YES, we will be taking pictures every year. My husband is a sport. He knows just how much I adore pictures.

My obsession all started with our engagement photos. Once we had those done, I was kind of in love with the idea. So since then, we've taken pictures every year.

Our engagement photos were taken December 2010. Take a lookie!

I could live off those kisses!

Yes, he really does play the guitar. It's not just a prop.

No, I wasn't fat or pregnant here...haha... my dress if frumpy! Bad choice, I'll admit that.

It's hard to believe that those pictures were taken almost three years ago! Time sure does fly whenever you're married to your best friend.

Weekend Update

Oh weekend, you did it again. What a grand ole time.
1. Husband and I had a staycastion this weekend. It was so much fun getting a hotel room downtown. The only drawback is that a bachelorette party down the hallway from us were being ridiculous and claiming that our dogs were barking too loud. We almost got kicked out of the hotel. But, their drunkeness didn't help. So we got to stay!
2. My sweet puffinboo and I. This is before my hair got all frizzy. We went to Rainey Street and then downtown to dirty 6th.
3. Princess bear and I were sleepy on Sunday, so we went to bed early!
4. Miss. Jordon sent me the sweetest little gift ever!!! I can't wait to wear this bad boy!

I'm not even going to lie. I got college-wasted this weekend. And it was awesome. Sunday, when I woke up... not so much. But on Saturday, you bet I had fun. Speaking of college wasted, let's take a look at college-Allison, why don't we???

That's your entertainment for the day. Hope you enjoyed that.

Five on Friday: Music Edition

It's finally Friday! YAY! I am pretty happy if you can't tell. Per usual, Friday calls for the Five on Friday link up. I decided that I'm gonna go with a music edition. A jam-sesh, if you will. The following five songs are recent hits that I'm sorta obsessed with! Do me a favor and at least listen to 5 seconds of each song. They're so good!
1. Cups - Anna Kendrick

2. Holy Grail - Justin Timberlake & Jay Z
Holy Grail by Jay-Z ft Justin Timberlake on Grooveshark

3. Point At You - Justin Moore

4. Don't Rush - Kelly Clarkson & Vince Gill
Don't Rush by Kelly Clarkson feat. Vince Gill on Grooveshark

5. Friday Night - Eric Paslay
