Thankful

I wish there was a way for me to put into words just how thankful I am for my little family of 4, but I can't think of how to express it. I am just so unbelievably blessed to be married to a man that makes me whole, and to have the two most loving doggies in the entire world. It's amazing how much joy I get from my cute little family.
I don't even want to imagine what my life would be like without those three. I am so blessed. So what are you most thankful for? Happy Thanksgiving, friends!

Gluten Free 30 Day Challenge

And BAM, just like that, I rocked at my Gluten Free diet for 30 days. That's right... I'm all done! And I didn't cheat one.single.time, even with all the temptation around me. About 2 months ago, we were suckered into ordering chocolate covered pretzels from the neighborhood boy scout. Wouldn't you know it? They arrived smack dab in the middle of my GF diet. Couldn't eat em; they contain wheat. Don't worry, I did save some for after my diet. And they were oh so delish.

Anyways, I have decided to give up the diet until after Christmas. The holidays can make it a little more difficult. I absolutely plan to pick it back up once the holidays are over. But considering I don't have any specific allergy to gluten, I have the option to make that choice. Thank ya, Jesus.
Here's a little summary about my experience of 30 days being Gluten Free.

+ I learned a lot about myself. For example, I learned that I actually have more self-control than I thought I would have. You wouldn't believe how many times I was tempted. I stayed true to my goal and passed with flying colors. I also learned that I am literally addicted to beans and rice. I'm almost embarrassed to admit this, but I ate beans & rice twice per day (lunch and dinner). Here's an example of my typical food week.

+ Apparently the Advil Liquid Gels have gluten in them. I accidentally took two of these pills during my 30 day period. I do NOT consider this cheating since I didn't know. Nor did it affect me - I felt totes normal.

+ There are a ton of good food options. You don't have to eat boring when going Gluten Free.

+ Corn tortillas were my saving grace. Because of this experience, I've officially converted to the corn side. I actually PREFER corn tortillas and corn products over flour/wheat products now. Whoda thunk it???

+ Before I did my own research about eating Gluten Free, I thought it was a "trend" like most of you probably think too. I will be the first to admit that I was wrong in assuming that, and I think you are too (if you feel that way). I haven't decided to pick this habit up "just because." I am doing it for personal health reasons that I find beneficial. It may or may not be for you, but I am happy about my decision.

+ I noticed that headaches were virtually non-existent during my Gluten Free diet. This is huge for me considering I typically get headaches daily.

+ Like most, I also assumed I would automatically lose weight from the diet. That's not completely accurate. I did feel healthier, but I didn't actually lose weight. I guess you gotta work out for that. And I don't work out. I know... I'm bad and I know it. I feel guilty. Truly, I do.
Overall, I would definitely recommend others try this challenge. You may surprise yourself with the results and/or how you feel. You will probably learn to enjoy more foods, or you may stick with the ones that you already like (ex: beans & rice.) Ha.

Any questions? I'm no expert, but I'm happy to tell you more about my experience if you're curious! Just comment below or email me directly at texasmrsblog(at)gmail(dot)com.

It pays to watch the news

Every morning while I'm getting ready for work, I turn on My Fox Austin and listen to the news. I've told y'all this before. I just love feeling informed on what's happening around town and the country. I guess that's the nerd inside of me. But, some pretty awesome things can come out of it too.

Before I proceed, you should know that I am about to rock your world in so many ways.

On Friday during the morning news, the news anchor was interviewing a blogger named Shellie. She basically blogs about saving money and sweet online deals. I immediately stopped getting ready, ran to the office, and pulled up her site. Who knew it would be so heavenly??? I had no clue.

Within about 10 minutes of browsing her site, angels started singing. Not literally, but figuratively rather. Shellie posted a coupon code for 20% off the Clarisonic Mia, making it only $100 with free shipping. I about died. I didn't even feel guilty about ordering it immediately. I picked out the turquoise color with the sensitive brush head. Oh em gee, I am getting way too excited about this.
It was perfect timing considering I literally just mentioned last week how bad I wanted the Clarisonic Mia for Christmas (refer here). So y'all should know that if you were going to randomly mail me one of these bad boys, no need to! I have one on the way as we speak. Hip hip..... hoorah!

SOOOO my point is: holy cannoli, you betta check out her site. You will be so thrilled that you did. I spent hours on it yesterday too. So.Many.Good.Deals. EEK! I am 100% confident that I just made your day. You are welcome.

How to make your parents happy

I've always been a "picture person." I like taking pictures, being in pictures, and looking at pictures. It's true. In fact, looking at anyone's wedding pictures are my favorite to indulge in. But that's completely beside the point. I think I got that picture-loving gene from my mom. She loves pictures too.

About a month ago, I texted my older brother asking if he wanted to split the cost of hiring a photographer. I proposed that we could do family pictures for my mom as her Christmas gift. He completely agreed and we let the scheming begin.

That's when we came across Paige K Ramsey Photography. She was quick to respond and super flexible with her availability. Considering we had 7 people's schedules to work out, I knew it would be challenging. It was extremely helpful when we all agreed upon a set date.

Paige managed to get all of our photos edited in no time at all! Not only that, but her rates are competitive too! You will definitely get your money's worth. She is easy to work with during the photo shoot and is super encouraging. If you're in the central Texas area, I would recommend hiring her for your next photo session. Just contact her at paigekramsey(at)gmail(dot)com.

Let me tell you... my parents were over-the-moon excited. I am pretty sure us kids scored some major brownie points. If you're looking for a good birthday/Christmas/anytime prezzie for your parents, this is a sure win! Just do it! Your parents will be pleased as punch.

And without further adieu, check out some of my favorites. Oh and P.S. when we took these, it was legitimately like 30-something degrees. NOT.FUN. How was I supposed to know it'd be 80 degrees on Thursday and then 32 on Saturday? Make up your mind, Texas. But at least the pictures came out beautifully.

Happies and Crappies

Let's talk Happies and Crappies. Lucky for you, I only have one of each to report today. One happy, and one crappy. You gotta have a little balance in life, don't you think? I decided we'll start with a crappy so that we can slowly but surely end our Friday with a smile - a happy!

Crappies:
I spent a solid 30 minutes getting every.single.last tear out my body last night. I held nothing back. It was so emo of me. Judge me all you want, but I felt a million times better after that cry sesh. After some self-motivation, and thinking of God's greater plan, I wiped my tears away and decided to take a deep breath. No more tears were available. Why was I crying in the first place? Oh, I don't know. Probably because of this roller coaster ride that we've been on for the last year trying to conceive. Pretty sure I was triggered by the realization that November 2012 is when I got off my birth control. And well, it's November 2013. SO YEA.
What women don't usually talk about is the reality of the struggle. There's those women out there that say, "it was a tough time for me" or "I got through it with God" but what they fail to mention is how many cry sessions that they have.

I'm here to report that women struggling to get pregnant cry a lot. Sorry 'bout cha. But lez be honest... it's totally okay to cry and cry...... and cry.... and then cry some more. We're human, after all. Pity party of one is now officially closed. Let's move on.

Happies:
My favorite person in the ENTIRE WORLD is celebrating his birthday today, which also means that I'm celebrating. Yay for us. But really, isn't my birthday hubby the cutest little thing you've EVER laid your eyes on??? I know, right?!
Circa 2007
And for good measure, here's a really embarrassing picture of us. Just for the heck of it. Happiest birthday ever to my groom. YOU'RE THE GREATEST.

2/Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in Lavender Cosmo. I can't get over my obsession with this stuff. I want every.single.color.

3/Kendra Scott Shirley Charm Key Chain. I have been eyeballing this key-chain for entirely too long. Let's make it mine already!

4/Two Faced A Few of My Favorite Things. All the beauty bloggers that I follow say this pallet is seriously amazing. I need to get my hands on it. Have y'all tried it out yet?

5/Bath and Body Works 3-Wick Candle in Leaves. B&BW must put crack in their candles. Because I am addicted.

6/Clarisonic Mia Skin Cleansing System. Even though I have sensitive skin, I've heard this beauty does wonders. I need.

Ten reasons why being a woman is awesome

Sometimes I bounce around on the dub-ya  dub-ya  dub-ya (WWW) looking for something entertaining to read. I came across this link and was immediately inspired to create a blog post about why being a woman is awesome.

One. We get to play dress up. As a little girl, we dress up barbies and other dolls with pretty clothing and then once we're adults, we can do this to ourselves. Women simply have way better fashion than men do. Oh and by the way, I couldn't be more thrilled to inform y'all that I won a recent giveaway that my Cali-twin hosted! EEK!

Two. Sisterhood. Not too many things are greater than the bond than of two girlfriends. This is one that my hubby can totally attest to. Sometimes all I need at the end of a day is a 3 hour phone convo with my bestie to talk about anything and everything.
Three. Dance parties galore. I dunno about you, but even at 26 years old, I have dance parties in my PJ's when home alone. I quite literally sing into my hairbrush and pretend that I'm a superstar. Men just can't do that.
Four. We can use our "monthly gift" as an excuse to eat a lot of chocolate. I personally don't see anything wrong with this. I like to think of the chocolate as a given right, considering the monthly circumstances.
Five. We get a brand spanking new last name upon marriage. In addition to taking on the new role as wife, you get to have a name that matches your husband's! This is probably the coolest thing ever in my humble opinion.

Six. Doors are held open for us, and chairs are pulled out. That's because women are to be respected. Yes please.

Seven. It's socially acceptable for us to cry for any given reason at any given time. But men on the other hand would be viewed slightly awkwardly if they busted out in tears for no apparent reason.
Eight. We can match our makeup look to fit how we're feeling that day: feisty, dark, summery, etc.

Nine. We can walk in high heels. I'd like to see a man walk as perfectly in 5 inch heels as women do. We were born to walk on the balls of our feet. Amiright?
Ten. We get to drool over the male species. And boy, are they hot!

Gift Ideas: For Him

This Friday is a very special day. Wanna know why??? Because my smart, sweet, sexy, and talented husband is turning 28 years old. This wife (points at self) is sure proud of all her hubby's accomplishments. It's no wonder that I want to spoil him on his birthday!

Not sure if you other ladies agree, but shopping for men can be a bit challenging. That's why I've created this handy dandy wish-list of items any man is sure to love! Or at least my man loves these things.
1. PlayStation 4 + COD Ghosts game. The video gaming nerd inside of men will never go away, sadly. Now that PlayStation just came out with their newest console (PS4), it's every dude's dream. And the game Call of Duty: Ghosts is where it's at apparently.
2. Chubbies. Who wouldn't want to see their man showin' off a little leg? I'll admit, it took me a little while to adjust to it. But now, we live by the motto "skys out, thighs out."
3. Brooks Brothers gift card. For the professional man inside each of them, it never hurts to look sharper than a nail. They have high quality suits and ties that will make your man shine.
4. Very Sexy 2 cologne. What happens when you drench a man in cologne whom you already find extremely attractive? You may or may not be even more attracted to him. He will really like this gift and the extra attention that he gets from you.
5. A day at Top Golf. No better way to make him smile than to take him somewhere that he loves: Top Golf. If you haven't ever been, you need to check it out! It basically involves food, booze, golf, and laughter.
6. A sixer of his favorite beer. Let him go a little overboard with drinking his favie beer. That way he'll sleep like a baby and be well rested for the next day.

What did I forget to add to the list? What is your go-to gift for men?

Review: Sephora Airbrush Foundation

Boy, oh boy. Have I got an exciting review for you! Remember last week when I told you that I purchased this Sephora Airbrush Foundation? Well... LET.ME.TELL.YOU this stuff is amazing. It's my second day of wearing it, and I am a huge fan.
The color is literally a replica of my skin. I am in the lightest shade (Fair). Pale and proud of it! I don't even have to buff very much on my neck area because it already blends so perfectly!

Directions for applying the foundation is super easy. Simply spray the product roughly 10 inches away from the face and move it in circular motions. Then, buff it out with a foundation brush. I ended up using my Sigma F80 brush. I repeated this about 3-4 times because I prefer a full coverage. Depending on the look you're going for, you can do more or less. I paired this foundation with Benefit's Porefessional and my skin looked FLAWLESS!

A couple of tricks that I've learned when using the product include:

+ Don't wear nice clothes. I actually just sprayed the foundation on while topless (haha). The mist will get on anything in it's sight, so be careful!
+ I wore a hair cap while spraying the foundation. This prevents it from getting all over your hair.
+ I touched up my baby hairs that had foundation on it with a make up remover cloth. This worked perfectly.

Price wise, this is $26 that I am so happy that I spent. I would (an plan on) purchasing it again in the future.

FOR SALE + Five on Friday

First things first, I want to draw your attention to this pretty little sweater that I'm selling! I'm even including FREE shipping!!! You just pay the cost of the actual sweater ($30). I bought it a couple weeks back and I just haven't gotten around to wearing it. Now, it's just sitting in my closet and needs a home! Think quick because this beauty won't last long!

1. Aztec Sweater
One size
Never worn; New w/ tags
$30 (free shipping!)

2. Buxom.
Real talk... I am officially hooked on Buxom. Last month, Ipsy sent me a travel size of Buxom lip polish (in the color Dolly). It's said to plump your lips. I am SERIOUSLY in love. It has a menthol feel to it. Amazefest. I just bought myself another one in the color White Russian. Buying multiples of a product; that's how you know when I really love something.

3. Turkey.
This year, my hubby and I plan on spending Turkey Day with my mom and her side of the fam. You know what this means? I get to see my sweet little baby cousins. Yay for having Thanksgiving plans finalized. Now to determine our Christmas plans. Hubby and I may decide to do a stay-at-home Christmas again like we did last year. That was the most fun thing ever. We woke up, cooked breakfast together, and exchanged gifts (even with our only child at the time - Zoey). This year, I would like to do the same thing, especially since it'll be our first Christmas as a family of four! Little Layla (aka Layler) joined our family just after Christmas last year.

4. Weather.
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, it's SO COLD OUTSIDE. I am not okay with that. Umm, hello??? I live in Texas for a reason. It's not supposed to be 32 degrees in November. We woke up to frost on Thursday morning. Go away coldness, why don't you.

5. Linky.
As mentioned yesterday, Kasey is doing a Christmas Swap link up! You should totes def join in on the fun. Who doesn't L-O-V-E receiving happy mail packages???

Linking up for Five on Friday!

Ten Guilty Pleasures

1. Being lazy. This is my most favorite thing (in the whole world) to partake in. When I think of the most perfect weekend ever, I imagine staying up extremely late watching Mystery Detectives in bed and then not waking up until 9 or 10am. Wouldn't that be heavenly? Then, I imagine a day full of TV watching in bed. I am so pathetic, and I'm totally okay with that.

2. Topo Chico. As if this is news to y'all, I love Topo Chico. It's an obsession really. This was a conversation that my hubby and I had yesterday evening (true story):

Ross: They didn't have any Topo at work today. I couldn't believe it.
***He looks in fridge***
Ross: Oh thank God! I needed a Topo.
Me: How many more do we have left?
Ross: Just one.
***We stare each other down, wondering who gets the last one***

3. The Real Housewives. I watch any and every city featuring those cray cray housewives. My favorites include: Lisa Vanderpump and Tamera Barney.
4. Red, white, and blue. You don't even want to know how many patriotic-themed things I own. From nail polish, clothes, and decor, I am fully loaded in my red, white, and blue department. But on second thought, you can't even have too much.

5. Concerts. Maybe you know this about me, maybe you don't. But I love going to pretty much any country concerts available! In fact, I am going to Brett Eldgredge soon, and also Florida Georgia Line too! Pretty pumped!

6. Lupe Tortilla's. Omg omg omg. this place is tortilla heaven. Last night, my hubby surprised me by bringing home the most.amazing (literally) corn tortillas of my entire life. I was drooling. We've always loved this place for their rice, queso, flour tortillas, and more. But now? Knowing they have amazing corn tortillas makes them even better. Remember that I'm currently Gluten Free? Yea buddy.

7. Free shipping. I love online shopping even more than shopping in person. Primarily because I can usually find coupons to use online. That being said, when a website offers free shipping, I fall victim every.time. I am such a sucker.

8. Ulta. I don't know how... but I have some dumb luck. I got $77 worth of stuff for FREE from Ulta. Yep, you read that right. I didn't spend a single penny. Here's the down-low: I went in after work yesterday hoping to use the rewards certificate that I had received in the mail. I had a level 9 (yay)! This meant that I got some stuff for free, just for being a valued shopper. Well then, in addition, I saw a few things I needed. Duh. So finally, when I'm at the checkout line, she rings me up, and the computer automatically zeros out and prints a receipt. The cashier didn't even think twice, she said, "Well, it looks like your stuff was free today!" EEK! The computer must've acted up and she was tired of dealing with it. I was in the right place, at the right time.
9. Mail. I'm almost embarrassed to admit it, but I check the mail every.single.day while on my lunch break. I love getting happy mail! E-mails are great and all, but snail mail makes my heart go pitter-patter. Speaking of happy mail, have you signed up for the Christmas Swap that Kasey is hosting??? It's snail mail with a prezzie in honor of Jesus' birthday (Christmas). GO NOW! It'll be so much fun.

10.YouTube. Hubby and I are the type of family that YouTube's everything. Need to figure out how to clean you vacuum? YouTube it. Need a beauty tutorial? YouTube that shizz. Need a good LOL moment? YouTube is the place to be.

Today's post was inspired by Shelby.

Sephora Goodies

I could literally spend hours looking at various makeup products. Whether I'm at Ulta, Sephora, or somewhere else, make up has become my obsession as of late. On Sunday I went to Sephora and dropped a pretty penny on these four items. I have heard several good things about each of the products and decided to give them a whirl.
Perfection Mist Airbrush Foundation: The first impression that I got from this product (from a YouTube video) was not a very good one. The makeup artist trying it on initially was freaked out by the smell and intensity of the spray. But once she got the face fully covered, she was raving about how flawless and lasting the foundation is. I haven't tried this product yet, but I am planning on testing it out this weekend. I decided to get the lightest color (Fair) because I am seriously white. I don't even care it either. I totally rock pale. I hope to review the product as soon as I have time to test it out.

Pro Buffing Brush #62: I plan to use this brush with the airbrush foundation, but I could use it already with my normal makeup if I wanted to. The quality of this brush is seriously amazing. E.L.F. has nothing on Sephora. Obvi the price difference is noticeable too. I still enjoy my cheaper brushes, but this is one that I am so happy I purchased.

Smoothing and Brightening Concealer: I have been using this concealer (Radiant Vanilla) as a highlighter under my eyes and have been pretty impressed by it. Initially, I could not figure out how to make the product come out. The dispenser is one that I hadn't ever used before. But it's as simple (ha) as turning the dial and product comes out. I have been applying it directly to my skin and then buffing it out with Sephora's #58 brush (below).

Pro Precision Foundation Brush #58: This brush blends my concealer to perfection. I absolutely love it. I know it's technically a foundation brush, but I would never use it to apply foundation; only concealer. For foundation, I prefer much larger brushes. Here's what Sephora's website says about the brush: "The synthetic bristles ensure streak-free results and the tapered, wood handle easily fits in your hand for ultimate control." I believe it!

To all my makeup junkies: Have y'all tried these yet? I am specifically curious about the airbrush foundation. I can't wait to try it out this weekend!

Taste of Tuesday: Breakfast Enchiladas

The first time I tried breakfast enchiladas, I was in heaven. Mexican food heaven, that is. I am so excited to share this recipe with you. I promise you that it'll be one of the best things you ever put inside your mouth.
Ingredients:
+ Potatoes
+ Eggs
+ Breakfast sausage
+ Shredded cheese
+ Green Chile Enchilada Sauce
+ Corn tortillas
+ Oil
+ Spices

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Dice potatoes. Put them in a baking dish. Put oil, salt, and cayenne on top. Use your hand to mix around, making sure to cover each potato in the mixture. Cook in oven for 30-45 minutes or until done.
3. Scramble eggs.
4. Brown breakfast sausage.
5. Put some oil in a bowl. Coat the corn tortillas in oil.
6. Fill each tortilla with sausage, eggs, and potatoes. Wrap and put in a baking dish.
7. Top the enchiladas with enchilada sauce and cheese. I highly recommend these two products: enchilada sauce and pepper jack cheese (I buy the store brand equivalent of that cheese).
8. Bake enchiladas for about 15 minutes, or until done. (The temperature of the oven should still be at 350 degrees from the potatoes.)

Today I'm linking up with my BFFs Ashley and Jessica. You should too :)
