Beauty Favorites: Face Primers

Since I've already talked about my favorite foundations, I figured I should probably mention a few of my favorite face primers. Le duh. It's amazing that I went years without using a primer on my face. And of course, I always wondered why my makeup wouldn't stay put. Not only do primers make your makeup last on your face longer, but it also evens out skin texture so that the makeup looks more flawless. I would say foundation and primers are my most favorite beauty products!

As a reminder, when God created baby Allison, he said "Let her have oily skin. And let her have large pores." And the rest is history. So what if I blot 5 million times per day? No shame.
Rimmel Stay Matte Primer: ($7) One of my more recent beauty purchases was this matte primer. The texture is a lot different than I expected; it feels like thick lotion. But all that matters is that it mattifies my skin. Me likey.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer: (Sample) I got this little baby size as a sample when I made a purchase at Ulta. I love the silicone texture because it's so easy to glide on.

L'Oreal Miracle Blur: ($25) This baby evens out my skin texture and I honestly feel like it blurs imperfections away too. It also has a silicon texture, which I've heard is good for my oily-skinned girls.

Hourglass Veil Primer: ($18) I wanted to try this primer out for the longest time ever so I finally decided to break down and buy the travel size. And it's completely worth the hype. When you apply it to your skin, it's silky smooth. Just like butter. The Hourglass line in general is amazing, but specifically this primer is said to absorb excess oils. Um, yes please.

Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser: ($7) Also a silicone texture, this primer acts similarly to the L'Oreal primer in that it blurs my imperfections - especially my pores. I feel less guilty about using this all the time on my face because it's so affordable.

Benefit Porefessional: ($30) This primer actually fills in my pores rather than smooth them out like the Maybelline product mentioned above does. The texture is in between a silicone and a lotion. This has to be one of the better products I've used for my pores, if not the very best!

  2. I couldn't live without my primer! I use Smashbox Color Correcting (in green) and it has been a life saver. I have so much redness in my face that even if I'm not "getting ready" on a given day, I'll still be wearing my primer!

  3. Large pored girls unite! This post is a dream come true! I love Porefessional but it's so pricy and I feel like it is a small tube for the hefty price tag. I have seen the Maybelline Baby Skin and been curious...I may have to just try it since it is so cheap.

  5. This is the post I have been waiting for! I have been researching primers and reading reviews and a lot of them say not good for oily skin... so which one do you use on the daily? I like to go with the more natural look... mainly because I am probably the worst make up artist in the world.

  6. I have large pores too, and no other primer I've used has helped them like Porefessional. Like you said, it really fills them in and helps minimize them!

  8. Ok, I have a lot of questions. So which of these is your favorite? Do you use a BB cream, or do you just use primer? When do you add concealer? After primer, but before foundation? After foundation? I used to use that Rimmel primer and then I stopped because I switched to BB cream, but I've been wanting to try the Porefessional so I'm thinking of switching back and just saving my BB cream for days I don't want to wear makeup. Being a girl is fun, but man, decisions decisions!! ;)

  9. We are skin twins! I really need to try that L'Oreal, especially because I have all the others you mentioned and it sounds like we are on the same skin level! I usually never shoutout my blog in a comment (I'm not a fan of it), but I am giving away a Korres Mattifying Treatment on my blog right now, and I use it and love it to give me a matte finish, it's my new favorite! http://lavenderandlight.blogspot.com/2014/01/korres-pomegranate-mattifying-treatment.html

  13. Okay, where did you find the Maybelline Baby skin? I’ve been looking for it and can’t find it! I saw it in the Ulta catalog and went to 2 different ones and the employees looked at me like I had 2 heads when I asked if they had any in stock!

  19. Thanks so much for sharing! I love Benefit's Stay Flawless 15 hr primer, but if I wear it too often, it breaks me out. :( So I just use it for special occasions. I've been looking for a new, everyday primer!
