DIY: Lip Scrub

At one point in time, I must have unknowingly signed up to receive a magazine subscription. Either that, or I somehow managed to get free magazines mailed to me. But that's neither here nor there. Now that I receive magazines in the mail, I love reading them. It's kind of my weekend thing. While I was flipping through one of the mags last week, there was an entire beauty section that caught my eye. One aforementioned was an at-home lip scrub/exfoliator.

I had recently purchased a tub of Coconut Oil and hadn't used it as much as I originally planned, so when I saw this recipe called for that ingredient, I jumped right on it. It takes like 2 seconds to make and smells so so so good.

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons Sugar
1/2 teaspoon Coconut Oil
When I used the product on my lips, I instantly started craving Girl Scout Cookies (Samoas). Oh, the temptation! But I basically scrubbed my lips for about 15 seconds, and then rinsed them off with warm water. Next, I applied some lip balm and was all done! I loved the way it left my lips feeling. They were baby soft!

I personally liked doing this way better than using my $3 e.l.f. lip exfoliator. The Coconut Oil in the at-home recipe just made my lips that much softer. Definitely give it a try and see how you like it. There are a ton of different recipes out there, I just found this one to be quick, affordable, and tasty!

  4. Great idea!!! There are so many things you can use coconut oil for. I've heard you can just rub it on your eyes and voila -- your eye makeup is gone!

  7. I use this too! It's also great as an exfoliator for your hands .... up north our hands get so dry and cracked from the cold, this is a must have!

  9. I made peppermint hand scrub for Christmas gifts using coconut oil, sugar, and peppermint essential oil. Everybody loved it. This lip scrub sounds like a great idea because the abnormally cold weather Alabama has been experiencing has left my lips (and skin) super dry!

  10. OOh i need to make some. I bet this would also be a great "scrub" for your hands, feet, etc. I don't have a cute little jar to store it in though. I guess I'll have to use it all at once ha
