Beauty Favorites: Skincare

I probably have the world's oiliest skin... ever! You have no idea. Especially when I get stressed out; it's even worse. I might go so far as to say that my skin gushes out oil. (Ew... I know!) The only perk that I can think of is that I will (hopefully) wrinkle less as I age since my skin is so moisturized. Is that even the right word I'm looking for?!? What I'm trying to say is that I hear dry skin = more wrinkles. But don't even get me started on acne scars. Oily skin means more breakouts, which means scarring. Not cool.

All that being said, when I look for products to use on my skin, they have to be oil-control! Nothing else will do. I think I have my skin care regime pretty set, but I do like to switch things up every now & again.

First and foremost, here's what the Mrs. side of the counter top looks like. On the left, I have my lotions and facial scrub. On the right, I have my two favorite cleansers.
I switch out which cleaner that I used based upon the day. For the days that I am not showering in the morning, I use the DDF Foaming Cleanser. This stuff is my HOLY GRAIL! Out of all of my skin products, it's my absolute favorite. It does wonders on oily skin because it really mattifies everything. On the days that I have showered in the morning, I use the Purity Cleanser. I love this stuff, and I only recently started using it. I scored 6 of these bad boys from Black Friday. They were only $10 a piece! Regularly, they are much more expensive.
My lotions also change depending on how my skin is acting. The one constant is the Cetaphil DermaControl Oil Control Moisturizer. I use it everyday. I use the DDF Advanced Firming Cream on my neck area. I feel like this really tightens my skin! Another one of my more used products is the StriVectin-SD Intensive Concentrate. I usually only put this under my eyes and on my forehead. Other (pictured) products that I use when switching things up include: Michael Todd Jojoba Charcoal Facial Scrub, DDF Benzoyl Peroxide Gel, another StriVectin product that is no longer sold, Murad Acne Spot Treatment, L'Oreal Youth Code Texture Perfector, and I also keep my hand sanitizer next to my lotions in case I need it.

Of course, I couldn't forget about my Clarisonic! I do love this bad boy. When I first got it, I was using it every day (in the evening time). But I recently stopped using it so frequently. I think I was over-exfoliating. Now, I only use it twice per week. I think that's the perfect balance for my skin.
All in all, I wash my face in the morning and the in evening, and even though I hate putting moisture into my skin (since it's so oily), I also moisturize twice a day. I do still have breakouts, but this routine works well for my skin! If you're in a similar boat with oily skin, I would definitely recommend these products.

Another note I wanted to mention is that I never ever ever purchase these products at full price. As you may see from the links, some of them are really expensive, reaching upwards of 130ish dollars. More times than not, these products can be found at Marshal's, TJ Maxx, or Ross Stores. Feel free to thank me now or later. Either way is fine. Ha! But seriously.

So what are your holy grail skincare products? I love hearing what other people use and more about their skin! Also, don't forget to link up with my girl Jordon today!

  2. I love my Clarisonic too. I paid almost full price for it, but it's been awesome. I use it about 3x a week now, but in the beginning I was like you and totally used it too much. That reminds me, I need to buy a new 'head' for it. Have you found a place to get em cheap?!?! :)

  3. My favorite spot treatment is Kate Somerville Anit-Bac Lotion. I use it every morning and every night on the trouble spots of my face that always break out (check and chin area.) It really helps to keep the break outs minimal. I have been using Aveeno Clear Complexion foaming wash as my face wash lately. It is a lot cheaper than what I used to use and works just as good!

  4. Finally someone else has the same problem that I have!! My skin is so oily most of the time and it's gross. Almost everyone else just has dry skin problems. I never thought of not having as many wrinkles because of oily skin but I need to remember that when I get so frustrated lol. I am definitely going to TJ Maxx this weekend to look for some of this stuff!! Thank you for sharing, I am always looking for something new to help with it.

  5. I need to break down and buy a clarisonic...just haven't done so. My skin has changed so much over the past year that my routine has gotten out of whack. I am also not good and remembering it, like eye cream, etc...

  12. We have the opposite skin but I do love my Clarisonic! It was seriously life changing for my skin! I use mine every night but I have been noticing a lot of people say to only use it a couple of times a week so now I'm going to have to look into that!

  13. I love my Clarisonic and need to use it more often. Also, I apparently need to get this Purity cleanser. Everyone is raving. I also have oily skin, but in winter it is kinda combo. The oily areas are quite oily but I get dry patches too. Weird.

  18. I have been trying to get better at taking care of my skin. It's so silly but the one side I wear my hair on gets the blunt of the extra oil from my hair. I need a scar remover but am excited to try your cleansers. I've been using YES products from Target and really enjoy those but I think it's because of the fruity smell. hehe Thank you for sharing.
