Time Marches On

As we near the end of football season (or is it already over??? hell, I don't know!), I feel conflicted. In one sense, I hate all football (except SHSU football - my alma mater), yet in another sense that also means that marching season is over. What a shame. I firmly believe football wouldn't be football without a little clarinet here and a little flute there. Then a little bang bang of the percussion. Can I get an amen?

Just so happens that yours truly was a legit, full blown band nerd. I'm talking from junior high to high school, and then even into college.

It all started out so innocent. And then it became a full-blown obsession. Roll step anywhere and everywhere.
To this day, when I hear/see a marching band, I freak the F out! Ask my hubby... or my besties... or anyone that really knows me! Pure joy is brought into my life when I hear that precious noise. Now that you and I are close and all (I'm talking to you, bloggy frands), I felt it necessary to include you in on this little fact about moi.

Now one last question... Where my band nerds at? Don't be ashamed... let it all out! But seriously, time marches on. Amiright? Thanks, Tracy Lawrence for makin this song for my lifeee. (I realize he's not being literal about marching, but it sure makes me smile to pretend he's talking about time literally marching. How cute would that be to see???)
Seriously... can we ALL take a minute to appreciate all the amazingness of Tracy. GAHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! 90's music... kill me (of happiness) now! But yea, when I say I'm obsessed with 90's country, I AIN'T LYIN' SISTA. Preach.

  1. I, too, was a band nerd through junior high and high school! Ahhhh! It was the trumpet that did me in, but the only reason I chose it was because it had three keys instead of a million like every other instrument...ha! I loved, loved, loved marching season! Seriously the best ever! I miss it...

  4. I was not in the band however I LOVE watching them during halftime at the football games. You guys are truly talented to be able to play those instruments AND walk around an entire football field in a formation! Very impressive my friend!

p.s. I am loving the 90's choker necklaces in some of your old pics! Just lovee!! Haha!

  6. There are few things better than 90's country!! Classics all the way!
Also, I attempted to be a band nerd for about a second in 7th grade, but then I nearly passed out playing the flute, so that path didn't end well. But my mom played the flute for years and years and even did the Disney World parade one year with her high school!

  10. Band nerd right here. I played the flute in middle school and high school and did the whole marching band thing. Gotta love it! Thanks to American Pie for making band camp popular and Nick Cannon for staring in drum line...maybe it wasn't as nerdy as we wanted it to be. Just kidding. Band Nerds UNITE!

  12. You're the cutest little band nerd I know!! I love looking back at old pictures like this. I also have to let you know as a fellow Bobby Bones Show lover that I knew as soon as I read the title of your post that it would have something to do with the past! I might have to do my own Time Marches On post!!

  13. I was a fellow clarinet player too and I also "freak the F out" when I hear a band haha brings back so many memories because they all seem to play the same classics (Hey Baby, Eye of the Tiger, You Can Call Me Al...the list goes on!)

  14. You are the cutest band nerd eva!! I played clarinet in 6th grade but I sucked. In high school I was on the dance team and we marched with the band at every football game. I loved it! And the crazy tan lines we would get from practicing in the summer heat - yikes!
