Beauty Favorites: Highlighters

In the makeup world, "highlighter" is a vague thing. I used to go to the store (i.e. Ulta) looking for something with that name. Little did I know that it's not actually a product name - silly me - it's a product used to do that function: highlight. Sometimes my nativity makes me giggle.

According to TotalBeauty.com, "a great highlighter can perk up your complexion, accentuate the features you love, and even camouflage aging skin." Once I figured out the concept of highlighting, it has been an essential part of my makeup routine. Here are a few of my favorites:

Here's a good example of where to highlight:
When using one of the above mentioned highlighters, I mainly focus on the tops of my cheek bone and on my cupid's bow. However, with a lighter colored concealer, I usually brighten up the other areas before my powder, but after my foundation.

  1. LOVE Benefit's High Beam!
I'll have to try Stila's highlighter...I didn't know they had one!

  2. Sephora gave me a tiny High Beam for my birthday & I loved it :-) Have you tried Girl Meets Pearl? It's very similar! I love your picks.

  3. I need to get one of those. I don't use one but I probably should. Thanks for the suggestions!

  4. I have heard good things about high beam. I use maybelline cover stick corrector concealer which I love!

  5. High Beam is the bee's knees! I LOVE IT! :)
