In the makeup world, "highlighter" is a vague thing. I used to go to the store (i.e. Ulta) looking for something with that name. Little did I know that it's not actually a product name - silly me - it's a product used to do that function: highlight. Sometimes my nativity makes me giggle.
According to TotalBeauty.com, "a great highlighter can perk up your complexion, accentuate the features you love, and even camouflage aging skin." Once I figured out the concept of highlighting, it has been an essential part of my makeup routine. Here are a few of my favorites:

When using one of the above mentioned highlighters, I mainly focus on the tops of my cheek bone and on my cupid's bow. However, with a lighter colored concealer, I usually brighten up the other areas before my powder, but after my foundation.
