How To Be An Awesome Wifey

I want to be a trophy wife... a loving momma... a hard-working advisor... a smarty-pants masters student... and a lifestyle blogger. I want to do it all. However, being a rockstar wife is my number one goal in life. If I succeed at that, everything else will fall into place. Although I am no expert (is anyone really?) at marriage, I have learned a thing or two about serving my husband.
ONE. Speak your hubby's love language. I have owned that book for several years. I think my grandma from Indiana sent it to Ross & I when we got engaged back in 2010. But only recently have I read it in it's entirety. I wanted to make sure I knew what my personal love language was, but more importantly, I wanted to know what Ross' love language was.
TWO. Surprise him. Occasionally, I like to send my honeybee cookies at work or show up unannounced with his favorite coffee in hand. Another thing that I'm known for is to leave sweet little notes in places where he'll find them. Sometimes I leave notes in his car. Sometimes in his closet. Sometimes in his lunch sack.

THREE. Be kind. Someone once told me that the secret to a long and happy marriage is kindness. And I do believe that to be true. I have many flaws, one of which used to be having a very angry heart. Ever since I have been married to my husband, my heart is so soft and always thinking about how I can be loving towards him.

I also wanted to include my SOAP for the week. This week's readings was from John 4.

SCRIPTURE: Verse 14: But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.

OBSERVATION: The water is symbolizing the belief in Jesus. With him, we have everything that we need and are forever saved.

APPLICATION: I should continually remind myself how blessed I am. Even when things don’t go my way, I have my salvation and need to remember that is what's important.

PRAYER: Jesus, I pray that you consume mine and Ross’ hearts. I pray that we will live a Christ-centered life knowing that the spring of water inside of us is enough.
Today I am linking up with Sarah!

  5. I had a college professor who preaced the Love Languages book incessantly! I love it but my husband hates when I bring it up - but understanding our languages has been SO helpful to me.

  7. Love this girl :) The first couple years of marriage have taught me SO much about myself and about Jared. I think we're pretty in tune with our love languages at this point, and always working to improve on them too! Love your sweet heart :)
