Maternity Photos

As If

You'll have to forgive me for being so MIA lately and only posting about baby stuff. Clearly you can tell where my brain is. Now that I'm officially less than 3 weeks away from my due date, Kensington is consuming every thought. I focus on every kick and every little thing that my body does and wonder, "when are you coming little girl?" Anyways, I decided to put together a random list of question about yours truly to switch up the topics a little more. Instead of talking about all things baby, let's talk about this mama!
Do you have any tattoos? If so, how many and what are they?
No, none at all. However, I have been considering getting one after Kensie is born. I got the idea from my coworker about getting a snipit of Kensie's heartbeat tattooed somewhere on my body. It would be a small, dainty tattoo. We'll see if I actually go through with it.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Five years from now I will be 33 years old. Hopefully I will have a plethora of kiddos (but in reality we'll probably only have 2-3 kids if we have any say; ultimately God is in control!). I am also hoping that I will be movin' on up on the career ladder. I have been in my current position for 3.5 years, and now that I have my master's degree in the same area that I work, I want to keep on climbing to get more experience. For those who don't know, I work in higher education (a university). I will also be teaching a class this fall semester, which I am pretty gosh darn excited about.
What is your favorite cereal?
All of the unhealthiest kinds. I like Lucky Charms and Capt'n Crunch a LOT. But my most eaten cereal is definitely Cheerio's. If I could live on cereal, I totally would. It's a total comfort food for me.

What would you do today if you knew you could not fail?
I have always loved web design (in fact I've always designed my own blog layouts), so I think it would be neat to start designing other people's blogs as a business. However, I don't have the time for that at this point in my life. Maybe one of these days!

If you had to live in a decade other than the current one, which would you choose?
Assuming I could keep the same people in my life, and assuming I'd be the same age as I am right now, I think it would be neat to live in the 90's. The 1990's had the best music by far, awesome movies (my favie is Clueless), plus not to mention there were Pancho's all over the place. Does anyone know what Pancho's is? It's a mexican buffet that we used to go to a lot when we were little. That place was legit.
Favorite social media platform?
Used to be Facebook, but now I am addicted to Instagram. I am such a visual person and I'd rather see pictures than read someone's status update.

If you won the lottery what’s the first thing you’d buy?
Probably the rest of the things from our baby registry. I know that sounds silly, but I just love getting all of the best things for Kensie. We have been so blessed to have hand-me-downs from our close friends, but it would be neat to buy all brand new stuff for her. But then I would go on a shopping spree for me. Yes, that would be fun.

What are five products that you wear/use daily?

What is one great advice you have?
Someone told me this while we were 2 years deep into trying to conceive: God will either fulfill the desires of your heart or he will take the desires out of your heart. I love that advice so dang much because I think it's absolutely true. God doesn't put desires in your heart to simply leave you hanging or taunt you; he put them there with purpose.

Favorite song at the moment?
I have three favorites at the moment: "Don't it" by Billy Currington, "Sangria" by Blake Shelton, and "Take Your Time" by Sam Hunt. Listen and enjoy.

Pregnancy: Week 37

How far along: FULL TERM!!!!!!! 37 weeks!

Baby Size: Last week at our anatomy scan, she was 8lbs 7oz (roughly) so I imagine she's grown a tiny bit more this week. But at this point, it's all a guess! Baby apps say that she is the size of a Winter Melon, whatever that is.
Gender: A mini me!

Movement: Per usual, yep! Little lady hiccups all the time, loves when mommy drinks ice cold Topo Chico's, and usually knows when I wake up in the morning time (she must hear my alarm go off)!

Best moment this week: Simply being full term! I am in AWE. Beyond thankful to be at this point. Glory to God!

Looking forward to: Kensington's birth day. Who knows when it'll be... but I imagine that God and Kensie have a pretty good plan worked out. The excitement of not knowing is such a fun part of pregnancy!
What I miss: Just because I can't keep putting "nothing" here, I will say that I miss being able to eat like normal haha. I am ALWAYS full (indigestion is real y'all) and can't enjoy food anymore. I'm sily - I know.
Symptoms: Carpal Tunnel and swollen ankles. Not gonna lie, it's very uncomfortable. I had an emotional breakdown the other morning because I was frustrated that I can't do things like "normal" but then I wiped the tears and reminded myself that this is normal and things will go back after delivery. Doctor thinks it'll take about 6 weeks post delivery to get rid of the Carpal Tunnel and the feet/ankle swelling should be taken care of a week or so after delivery.
Nursery: Very much done (here) and very much in love with her space!

Wedding rings on or off? Very much off. Has been for a while. Wearing my fake rings.

Daddy-isms: At dinner this week, hubby said, "As we get closer to her due date, I am more excited to hold her." This is a big deal, y'all. My husband does not hold babies (I think he's held one baby before) and I can just tell how excited he is for Kensington to be here. He also asked if they could spend daddy-daughter time together (without me) and I said "OF COURSE!" He's silly to even think he has to ask. After all, without my hubby's help, she wouldn't be here.

PrayerLord and Savior, it has been such a blessing that you would choose me to carry this child that you've created. While I am so thankful to be her mommy, my prayer this week is that she'll call you Heavenly Father from the day she's born until the day you call her home. Throughout my pregnancy, I pray that others have seen your light in me. I pray that everyone knows that you get the glory; you get all the credit. As we near the end of the pregnancy, I pray that you will protect both Kensington and I and that we have a smooth labor/delivery.

Pregnancy: Week 36

How far along: 36 of the happiest weeks! That is equal to 9 months. Only 28 days left! Are y'all as surprised as I am how quickly these 9 months have gone by!?

Baby Size: 8 lbs and 7 oz according to our anatomy scan today. Of course that's a rough estimate based on measurements. I have always dreamt of a chunky baby!
Gender: A princess :)

Movement: My girl is always wiggling. I never really have to do my formal counting (although my Type A personality still does them!), like doctors want, because she is always moving around. I can't think of anything better. In case you missed it, here's a video of her kneeing my belly and rubbing it across! Sorry I didn't catch more of my belly in the video. I was too distracted looking at my belly instead of the camera!
Best moment this week: At our 2nd anatomy scan, about 7 weeks ago, the doctor was slightly concerned because I had a lot of amniotic fluid (but still within a normal range). He really wanted me to be careful with my diet in order to improve the fluids. Today I found out that my hard work has paid off. Don't get me wrong: I still ate less-than-perfect, but I tried to make smarter choices! I am proud of myself. Kensie's amniotic fluids have improved a lot!

Looking forward to: Reaching full term next week. I AM AMAZED OVER GOD'S GLORY for getting me to this point. I am totally in awe. Full term is such a milestone, and I have no one else to thank except God himself.
What I miss: NOTHING. I love pregnancy.
Symptoms: I developed carpel tunnel while pregnant about a week or two ago. It has been pretty painful/annoying, but it's nothing I can't handle. Anything for my baby girl. It's on my right hand, and three of my fingers are completely numb: my thumb, pointer, and middle fingers. My doctor has me wearing a brace to help reduce the pain & symptoms, but I haven't seen any progress. At this point, my hands (and feet) are so swollen that there's too much pressure on my nerves, making them go numb.
Nursery: It's totally complete and easily my favorite room in the house. Check it out here.

Wedding rings on or off? Been off for quite a while. I'm still rocking my fake rings from Kohls.

Daddy-isms: Daddy has totally been in 'nesting' mode just like mommy has. He has been so helpful getting things ready for our little girl. He installed her video monitor in her nursery, and both car seats into our cars over the weekend. Getting everything ready is making us very excited.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your goodness. Thank you for protecting Kensington and I for the past 9 months. I owe you everything. You will always get the glory for such a miracle. I am continuing to pray and trust that Kensie and I will have a safe and healthy pregnancy, along with a safe and healthy delivery. I pray that others will see your glory through the birth of my baby girl. I pray that if anyone doubts or doesn't fully trust you, that you would show them, through me, that you are capable of more than our expectations. You are able to do abundantly more than our wildest dreams. Praise You!

Completely unrelated to pregnancy, but I wanted to announce that Libby was the winner (randomly selected) of my Favorite Things Giveaway. Congrats Libby!

My First Mother's Day

Well, it's official. My first Mother's Day couldn't have been any more special.

I woke up to a hug and a kiss from my husband wishing me a happy Mother's Day, followed by text messages from my mom, stepmom, close friends, and other family members wishing me the same. It was special from beginning to end.

We started out our morning with church. We've been watching church from home a lot lately (they live stream it!) since my feet and ankles are always swollen, but I had a hankering to go in-person for the special day. Every single person that we walked by smiled big at me and expressed their excitement for my first Mother's Day. What I loved most about the service was that our pastors recognized and prayed for women struggling with infertility. I spent most of the service praying for those women rather than rejoicing in my success. I know the pain, and just last Mother's Day, I was begging God for a baby to be placed in my womb. This year at church, I found myself crying again, but out of pure joy for His mercy and love.

After church, we headed to my hometown, which isn't a far drive at all. My little brother was off work, plus my older brother & his wife were in town, so it was a good opportunity get together. We ate Mexican food (what's new?), took some family photos, and mom gave us a new carseat that she bought for Kensie!
When we got home, I took a much needed nap while hubby installed the carseats into our cars. So blessed to have two carseats!!! We are borrowing the green one from our friends since their 18 month old has a larger carseat, but we'll get to keep the black one for all of our kiddos.
Once I woke up from my nap, my hubby installed Kensie's video monitor for her room and I opened the gifts that he got for me. Each gift that he purchased had a specific purpose behind it:

Flowers & Card - Because I love flowers and his sweet words. The card was so perfect!!!
Wine - To drink post-pregnancy. Doesn't need much explanation :)
Dr. Pepper - To drink post-pregnancy since I don't consume caffeine while Kensie is brewing in my belly. I have been craving a big gulp of this stuff.
Chips -  Because I love salty things, but have been watching my sodium intake while preggers due to swelling. These will be eaten post-pregnancy :)
Babies R Us Gift Card - To buy Kensie gifts, because hubby knows that it's my favorite thing to do!
Schlotzsky's Gift Card - Because I've been craving a sandwich throughout my whole pregnancy but refuse to eat any lunchmeat (even if cooked) due to the risk of listeria. This will be used post-pregnancy.
Advil Liquid Gels (not pictured) - Because hubby knows I much prefer Advil over Tylenol for aches/pains. This is for post-pregnancy.
Stuffed Flower (not pictured) - A gift for Kensington's nursery, seeing as how Kensie is the one who will be calling me mama.
To end my day, I found out that I won an Instagram giveaway. SO EXCITED. I feel like the luckiest momma in the world. I won a teepee for Kensington's room (here) and a $250 Nordstrom's gift card. As you can probably imagine, my first Mother's Day was FULL OF BLESSINGS.

Enough talk about my weekend. Can we chat about the fact that I've been super MIA in blogging lately? I have been spending all of my free time nesting and prepping our home for baby girl. It's so hard to believe that Kensie Grace's due date is only 4 weeks away. Anyways, please forgive me if I'm slow to respond to emails.

Kensington Grace's Nursery Reveal

FINALLY! (Insert happy face). Kensington's nursery is done. I have spent the last 8.5 months getting it ready. The moment we found out that we were pregnant, we started clearing everything out of the then-office. Now? It's my little piece of heaven on earth.

I have sat in this room MANY nights praying, laughing, crying (tears of joy), and just thinking all of the great times that my baby girl and I will have in her nursery. I think about how many times I'll read stories to her. How many times I'll sing lullabies to her. How many times we'll change dirty diapers. I think about it all.

My heart is bursting with happiness. I am so thrilled to share her nursery with y'all!
So what do y'all think? Do you love it as much as I do?! Also - I did my best to find each major item online for reference, but there were some things that I couldn't find and/or they weren't listed.
